I'm about 6'1. So small, for basketball. I was tiny in school, didn't start growing until I was about 16, so the tear drop was a good shot for me. Basically anyone I played against was bigger than I was! Probably couldn't hit it for squat now though, and that's with my surgically perfected eyesight! I loved B-ball when I was younger, had a hoop and board on the side of my house and a red, white and blue basketball I got in America on holiday. Grew up in the Air Jordan era, so I think I liked it because I liked MJ. Haven't played the game in years, although funny enough I very, very, briefly was messing about last night when I went to pay my five aside fees. We play in the school sports hall that has hoops and the storeroom door was open. All those basketballs, would have been rude not to. Ha ha. I would have done the same if I'd of seen the basketballs too. (sidenote) What position do you play in five-a-side? I've watched basketball (more so European basketball lately than stateside as I don't have the right channels) for as long as I can remember and always preferred the glitzy stateside stuff compared to over here. But I am a late bloomer when it comes to playing. I picked a basketball up in 06/07 and used to practice shooting hoops on my own down in this big metal football cage. They ended up removing it and it is now a retirement home. Bah-humbug. Then I started shooting hoops in Canada in 08/09 and haven't since because of my back. But even if I could there isn't anywhere around here. It is great for fitness especially when you play football one day and basketball the next. I can't wait to get back. MJ was a phenomenal player; was he your all time favourite? I went off him after Looney Tunes .

I play Phil Jones centreback, except my surging runs happen once a game, so I'm more of a Vidic. I watch/ed the NBA, the Euro stuff just pales in comparison in my opinion so I never got into it. Jordon is definately my favourite player, he was unbelievable and always seemed a really sound bloke aswell so I pretty much loved him. He was my American Beckham. I liked Space Jam, yeah it was a bit shit, but that was okay - it's Looney Tunes. Plus, it had a Bill Murray basketball cameo which = me liking it. I do fancy getting back into basketball again, but like you there isn't really the local availability. Not that I really have anywhere to put it, but since when were hoops alone 25 odd quid?! e. g. www.decathlon.co.uk/b-500-rim-id_8097165.html

Bill Murray is fantastic. Even if he is awkward. That is a pricey hoop, a hoop that doesn't even come with a back-board caked in logo's! If you get one don't get the material net, waste of time. Stick with the chained one. It should come with somebody to put it up too because I just know I will drill into something I shouldn't. I have been looking at the full length ones that stand up too and why anybody would get one of those is beyond me, especially at that price. £110 and up. www.amazon.co.uk/FULL-SIZED-BASKETBALL-ADJUSTABLE-STAND/dp/B003MVD2HC/ref=sr_1_1?s=sports&ie=UTF8&qid=1317987150&sr=1-1

That's a wack of cash. I might just stick with those mini ones that go over the bin.

Well Marv, it's an honour just to be able to play for this fantastic team, but to become top scorer on our way to victory in the Play-offs is simply a dream come true. I don't want all the plaudits, I'm just delighted to be here with this team and get so much success. As a great man once said, "There is no "i" in team but there is in win"!

Yep! Usually, I'd look for Boston/Massachusetts teams because I went on an awesome family holiday to Cape Cod when I was younger. Or New York teams 'cause I love that city! But there is no way I was supporting the Celtics, and as MJ played for the Bulls, I followed them. Plus, their colours are red, white and black, so it felt appropriote!

You know there is a JJB right beside where I work and I'm so tempted. I don't have any outside wall to put it up though, so I bought the indoor one.
If it's still there before Christmas I'm having it.

Commissioner David Stern said the deal was "subject to a variety of approvals and very complex machinations, but we're optimistic that will all come to pass and that the NBA season will begin on 25 December".
