Or maybe a cheeky bid for Wilshere when Arsenal finish 5th. he'd be a great signing. i think city will probably be in for him next summer

fuck i'm sick of people criticising Evra on here. two flawless seasons followed by an iffy one just gone and we write him off. let's see how he gets on this season.

I know people say loyalty doesn't exist in football anymore etc but I think it still does. You can't compare Wilshere to players like Adebayor, Toure, Clichy, Fabregas and Nasri who have left Arsenal in recent seasons. Yes every player has a price and the CL is huge, but I think as a local lad and Arsenal fan, he is likely to stay put whatever happens. But if he's up for leaving, we have to make sure he comes here. He'd be a great addition.

I haven't seen that much of Dortmund as I don't get to watch as much of die Bundesliga as I'd like, but there was more than a twinge of jealousy watching the way they played compared to the lethargy we served up at Benfica. I know their style is slightly naive and will backfire at some point, but the pace and relentlessness of their counter attack was enjoyable to watch.
Kagawa and Goetze were impressive and would certainly fit in well with the rest of our attack. So...ain't happening.

Our performances against Arsenal and Bolton were better than anything Dortmund have done so yeah..

Our lack of creative depth in midfield will hurt us at some point in the season. I didnt think i'd say this during the summer but Cleverley being out is going to be a huge miss. Him & Anderson have been brilliant. Carrick coming back in along Anderson will slow our free flowing fast attacks down.

You do know basically the whole Bolton game was played without Cleverley and WITH Carrick right? Don't know about you, but to me it didn't seem to slow us down too much...

We were already leading when Carrick came on against Bolton, He isnt half as effective as Cleverley. He'll slow our play down. thats not giving Carrick stick its just my opinion.

Again.. he didn't slow our play down against Bolton... The fact that we were already leading is irrelevant (and we actually scored the goal with 10 men effectively). We still played great football with Carrick on the pitch, and that destroys your whole argument. We were sluggish against Benfica for many reasons. Players lacking match practice, an unadventurous system etc. With the energy of Anderson alongside him, Carrick is fine in there, as proved in the 84 mins he was on at Bolton.

Plus he seems very passionate about the club on Twitter etc. I may be wrong mate.

im sure i read somewhere that he supported w ham as a kid but i'm not too sure. just read on wikipedia he's been at arsenal since he was 9 so perhaps he wouldn't be so keen to leave.

He did have a few digs about loyalty during the summer. I only see him going anytime soon if Arsenal have a terrible season miss out on CL badly, Arsene gets sacked etc. As Wenger said himself if Arsenal can't keep a hold of their best players they aren't a big club any more. He'd be fantastic for us but Arsenal just don't seem to deal with us.

Speaking of left-backs, Tyler Blackett in our Reserves/Academy has been impressing me lately. Good at the back, gets forward aswell. Could be a decent prospect.[/quote]
Blackett has had a good game againt Middlesboro today - been a real menace down the left making some great runs and putting in some great crosses.
Van Velzen looks a beast of a player too
