Andre Schurrle is tearing it up for Germany against Belgium right now. He's a shout. I don't know much about Schurrle but he's looked great in a couple of cameos for Germany. How are they producing so much talent??

How are they producing so much talent?? cos they don't have the chav culture we do over here and their footballers are largely intelligent and responsible young men probably from decent familys instead of the toe rags we produce !

Germany's producing talent because they've had their own version of FFP, so they need to create their own stars before buying big. Even Bayern are curbin their spending in the last few years.

I'm watching the Newcastle/Spurs game and for all my joking about Bale, could we please sign Tiote?
He does exactly what we need and his distribution is simple, 5 yard passes to the creative guys. Ideal.

Ideal. I know I've been saying we need a midfielder like him for a while. Strong, good positional sense, good awareness, simple and sensible distribution, and even chips in with a goal now and then. Picks up a few cards like, but he's basically what we need. I'd feel a lot more comfortable in big away games if we had that kind of player in the team.

Should have tested their resolve in the summer. We wouldn't be conceding as many goals if he was on the pitch.

It all well and good going on about these 'defensive midfielders', but acknowledge the trade-off. You're taking an attacker off to have them in the team. Chances are you'd be dropping Hernandez and pushing Rooney out of position just to have some one whose sole role is to break up play, in my opinion, just not the United way.
Anyway we do have Fletcher as our kind of big-game-3rd man player. The trick is just getting him in form. I thought he was showing signs of getting back into the groove against the dippers, he was just poorly supported by Giggs and Jones. Goals conceded have been largely down to our defensive injuries and poor form of a couple of experienced guys.

Where did you get the part about sacrificing an attacker?
There would be times when we'd play him in a 4-5-1, but those would be games in which we play 4-5-1 anyway, with or without a defensive midfielder, for example yesterday. Usually we'd play him in a 4-4-2.
