Yeah I know Williams isn't as good as he once was but he was playing some seriously poor shots Yesterday, I only play snooker very badly myself so I don't know how breaking your cue tip and having to replace it would affect you, it appears quite badly. Disappointing as I've always really liked him, really cool and laid back character.
I wouldn't begrudge Mcmanus winning the thing either. Another older player who's come back from nowhere, it'd be quite something to go and win your first major ranking title at the age of 45. Although I feel Higgins will have a better chance of beating the younger guys if he progresses.

I would love John Higgins to win it, only because he is the most lovable guy and polite you could ever meet. I seen him a few times before I retired two years ago as a building manager here in Edinburgh, he would drive into the car park to see his solicitor in the building I managed when he was banned a few years back. A very down to earth guy and would stop and have a chat after he parked his car, always had a smile on his face.

A new/wrong tip can give you all sorts of funny contacts and it's difficult to judge spin and swerve cue ball contact. Makes positional play a nightmare. New tips have to be 'broken in', a bit like knocking in a cricket bat. You can't use too much power for example.

Yeah it makes sense. I heard them say Yesterday that they have their cue tips specially designed and maintained by professionals for tournament play. If I'm right, Steve Davis put his new one on for him as he had never done it before and didn't know how and he's had to sand it all down himself, so hardly ideal.

I can't laugh, that happened to me a while back! Just had a cheap GM bat, worked out well though, the rents got me a Woodworm Torch after that! All the cool kids had that bat

Fantastic fight back from Hawkins here. Was 9-1 down at one stage and has got it back to being just 10-9 down now.

Just booked my tickets to the opening game of the 2017 Masters. Went to the same game last year, only time I've ever been to snooker live. Great fun - I like the Masters because a) you only see the top players, b) in the early rounds the whole match is done in 1 session so you can see it all and c) because its the only decent competition within 2 hours of my house!

Reckon Ding's going to win this semi with a session to spare like he did in the quarters. Tough to see the 2 guys in the other semi stopping him in the final either. Playing superb snooker.

Well well well. Mcmanus wins 4 on the bounce to bring it back to 9-7. Playing some really good snooker in doing so. Game on!
Always thought Ding was shit....
