I have to make do with the Xbox version, where it's about a million times harder to be accurate with spells and arrows, owing to the stupid joysticks. "kontrol freeks" - google them and invest in a pair.

any tips on who to use as my character lads?
also i see some of you are running with 2 or 3 different characters, i'm guessing they are just individual games? or can you combine your characters in a single game?
i will be mainly fucking about, doing the main missions when i get bored of said fucking about.

You can only play as one character per game, your starting race doesn't really matter, you'll be able to build your character through the way you play the game i.e. if you use magic then your magic skills will increase, same for melee attacks, sneaking, armour choice, lockpicking etc and you can choose perks each time you level up which will further influence where your characters strengths lie.
Don't worry about the main storyline, I've played this game for a shit ton of hours already and I've only done 2 quests pertaining to the so called "main" story, just wander about and see what you come across, hope you enjoy it.

Is this game similar to Fallout series? Just that it's a longer version and set in a medieval-ish fantasy theme era?
Looks intriguing. I'm tempted, but don't want to be addicted to it.

Yeah basically. Bethesda did Elder Scrolls (the series Skyrim is in) first I believe, then bought the rights to Fall Out and made it similar. And Jim, I always do as a dark elf but that's just me. There's a few perks of different races but it doesn't affect things hugely, it's mainly about what you choose to do (eg use magic or weapons, or both for example). It's an amazing game for sure.

Yeah I dislike the current trend of games mainly catering to multiplayer. Truly great games are ones you can play for hundreds of hours on your own. I clocked 480 hours on Oblivion(which I only found again yesterday after a year on the missing list.Fucking loved that game. Cant wait to play Skyrim, Santa has hid it upstairs in my Mrs` wardrobe, sneaky Bastard, cant wait till Christmas!

I wouldn't spend too much money on being trained, it can get very expensive. You just need to sneak a lot really! That 280 gold will only train you one notch on the Sneak training level.
Got my Nord warrior to something like level 36 now and have full "legendary" Daedric armour (it's a bit weird how it's better than Dragonplate armour but requires a lower level of smithing) but I've gotten a little bored of him, I think it's because I did the two main quest lines (the dragon one and the Stormcloak one) far too early. I've started up a Wood Elf archer and a High Elf mage so I'm just going to have fun with those. Also with them I think I'm going to see what it's like going with the Empire this time instead of joining the Stormcloak rebellion.
One problem I find is that the whole "Dragonborn" thing and now tied to the Nord race it is, it just seems silly any other race doing it. It's totally set up to be a Nord over any other race.
Oh and cheers Jimbonda, those Kontrol Freek things seem pretty cool. They might go some way to helping me cope with the devastating loss of mouse and keyboard. Then again, they'll still never, ever beat W, S, A and D and a mouse. I've applied for this new job at work and one of the people in the department its in is putting in good words for me so if I get it, I'll definitely be investing in a new PC and a copy of the PC version of Skyrim haha.

You'll want to do a lot of sneaking around to get your skill up for quests with the Dark Brotherhood and the Thieves Guild as that will come very much in handy. Just try doing lots of sneak kills when you go into dungeons and things like that.
Yeah I've finished the dragon one and the whole empire/stormcloaks thing, I just did it far too early on really, at about level 15-20. Actually to be fair I started them that early because I thought both quest-lines would be a lot longer than they are.

Cant wait to play Skyrim, Santa has hid it upstairs in my Mrs` wardrobe, sneaky Bastard, cant wait till Christmas! Enjoying it then J? Time for me to get back to playing it. I was about to become a werewolf but was told it is a dodgy state of form to be in whilst battling dragons. Although I haven't completed a main mission yet as I seem to be incapable of not wondering off and exploring.
