I lost a good friend of mine to the gym. He used to be a fun and amusing guy and a great friend. Now all he talks about is bulking and lifting. His Facebook is wall to wall gym selfies and gym memes. It's been years now and I think he's beyond repair. RIP Freddie 1993-2010 Gym selfies are the bane of my fucking existence. Does anyone give the slightest shit about other people's bodies? Yoh only live once. Eat a fucking burger you twat (not you rustin). I know this wasn't directed at me, but I'm going to use it as an excuse to have a burger anyway.

I'm not into golf but you don't see me in that thread I'm pretty sure there's a food thread on here, and I'd redirect you but Caaj would feel like I'm infringing and then he'd kick my ass. Which...based on my previous post wouldn't be that difficult, hence my presence in this thread.

Me too. I've started doing Tapout XT and its all band work and a lot of cardio core. My issue is that I've got the body of a 90 lb weakling with the oh so sexy addition of the 30 something spare tire. I'd love to get some upper body strength and bulk, but am basically too proud to hit the gym and struggle with 25s, so I'm going to do 90 days of this and see what happens from there. I'm hoping to lose the gut and tone up first and then look to add some bulk to my chest and arms. this is something that ALOT of people say but the truth is - 98% of the people in the gym don't give a fuck what you look like and the 2% that do are just cunts anyway. I used to goto a 'posh' gym and it was crap, hardly anyone helped or was interested in doing much more than talking. The best places to go are the back street sweatbox types as the people in there are hardcore and they'd be more willing to help out someone new To be honest, I totally believe this to be the case, but it's more of my own issues and insecurities than anything else. I figure once I do 90 days of Tapout, I'll be ready to hit the gym. It's exactly the same as cleaning before the cleaning lady arrives, which I mock friends for, but whatever.

Finally below 118kg bodyweight. Fucking chuffed with that, it's taken a good solid 3 years to get too. Can finally squat 100kg at just shy of parallel too. I can probably break parallel if I sort my super tight hip-flexor out, it's just such a pain to stretch/get warm though. Next goal is to be able to do a pull-up. Anyone got any tips on how to get there? Also recently, new PB on clean and press is 50kg, but that's a 1RM. Leg pressing around 140kg, but can probably go heavier, but last time I did a leg press, I gave it big'un and paused on the last rep of the last set, heard something pop in my side, and only just got it back up. Need to sort the cardio out though, had a PT for that, but he;s fucked me off, and my gym's too small to do a lot of the circuit type stuff I was doing with him. Any ideas? Do you have a pure gym near you? Honestly it is amazing value for money. It's 2 quid a month for me because work subsidise 15 quid and I'll go on average around 5 times a week before work as I've got into a good routine and maybe on a Saturday depending on my Friday night. They also do free spinning/circuit classes which are brilliant for me because I'm still recovering from knee reconstruction after I ruptured my ACL. I can't recommend them enough tbh On the pull ups for the wide grips obviously work your back to get some strength behind it but for the small grip hands facing away from you, most of the tension is in your fore arms. I couldn't do many until I started doing curls with my palms facing the floor which hits your fore arms and it makes the world of difference, so start with your arms down with a bar, palms facing your legs then bring it up

I need to do something to get in shape again chaps - I'm sick of being a tub. Size 36 trousers are 4 inches larger then I usually wear Advice 1. Get the 'my fitness pal' app Advice 2. Get a lean in 15 book by Joe wicks aka the body coach. I've done both and lost about 5lb in a week Oh and advice 3. Smash the shit out the gym. Fuck cardio. Big compound lifts. I've been doing pyramids, but reversed. Start with the heaviest weight for the least reps. Lighten the load, increase the reps. Repeat. See this workout www.muscleandstrength.com/workouts/pyramid-volume-training.htmlSorted! I'll have a nose at that book. Way back in the day when I actually used to goto the gym I did pyramids - one week of 6/8/10 lifts and the next of 8/10/12. at the moment I don't have much free money to let me get to the gym so I have my exercise bike and I have a set of stuff to do with resistance bands

On the diet front, my mate has lost over four stone. He's eating loads of bananas. Jalapeño's and tomatoes are also great fat burners. I'm addicted to chillies so the jalapeño's are right up my street. I've lost nearly a stone just by tweaking my diet. I have that health app on my phone and I average 15000 steps a day, so I guess that helps too!

I've been knocking up banana smoothies to substitute for a meal which I find helps, find it fills me up more as well. As for chilli's I like them so Jalepenos are in everything

Smoothies are a great way to help get you fruit and veg intake, but I'd never ever use them as a meal substitute. Primarily as if you don't eat enough, your body will just store all the sugar from your fruit smoothie as fat for the energy it needs.
If anything, maybe make slight changes to your meal habits. For example, I had some left over tuna steaks and broccoli for breakfast this morning. As anything can be a breakfast food. I usually just have turkey bacon and avocado most mornings, with a bagel, but I forgot to go shopping over the weekend. :/
Monday gym session later on too. Kettlebell work, cardio and some basic yoga for me.

Yeah Dont have them all the time, usually do it every other day just to mix it up a bit. Dont usually eat as well as them otherwise you'll just bloat out. Good to mix it up a bit otherwise I find I get bored and end up giving in to things I shouldn't.
