well sahin's got age on his side, so if we doen't get his game time we can still go in jab or next summer and also the price will not be that high unless of course Chelsea/city suddenly realise that this is the player they have been wanting for a long time.

I don't rate Lassana Diarra as starter for Real Madrid to be honest. Sahin is class though, like him alot. Was disappointed to see him going to Madrid for so little.

i'm amazed we did not really move for this kid There seems to be an emphasis in this thread on why we didn't go for this kid. For starters, Fergie and our scouting network may not have had any real interest in this guy in the first place, and there's always the possibility that we did show an interest in him but decided not to go for him for a whole host of reasons. For example Sahin's attitude could stink to high heaven. It's easy to say we should have plumped for this, that and the other player, but there's more to it than that. As i understand it, we usually scout potential targets for at least a year or so before we decide whether or not to go for them and that would include the players general attitude, suitability etc. We would have had our eye on Kagawa for at least a year previously, for example. |

Another bargain missed out on. Would take double maybe triple what they paid to get him. Quality player, suits us perfectly. But yeah, not gonna happen, which is a shame really. Kagawa won't be enough on his own so we'll just have to wait and see.

How do we know that Ferguson had any real interest in this guy in the first place? If he doesn't arrive at United, which it's looking likely he won't, there's a reason for it.

fergie has tracked him since he was 16 mate we have watched him, went cold then sort of got back on track again but he wanted madrid as did ozil so prob why we didnt push.

thats what i said earlier, he wanted and still wants to play only for real, as much has he may be wasting his time and age there, no point in going after someone who is just not interested.
RM have had many such "followers". No point in bashing that we missed on him. Missing is usually when you actually had a decent shot.. in this case it was zero chance. still is

we should of signed him last season but madrid beat us to him and just left him on the bench which is a waste of talent. I've spoken of him on this forum before because i feel he's exactly what we need, we need players like this more than a hazard or a sneijder because there like metronomes in the middle of the park, they dictate the tempo of a game, which is exactly what we miss when scholes ain't in the side.

Another rumour about Sahin has emerged I see, only in Goal.com like.
Any move would seem to hinge on Modric going to Real though, and Sahin wanting to come here, which he's not given any indication of yet.
Would still like to see us try a bid, just to test the water.

I think it would depend on what assurances Mourinho could give him about his status next season. He didn't get much game time in his first season at Madrid but he did have injuries. The likely signing of Modric would definitely suggest that he won't get many minutes next year though, so I think he would definitely be interested in a move to United.
Will we be in for him though? Nah. He's a midfielder.
