No way. Cleverley isn't anywhere close to Sahin. Not yet at least. We should stop hyping the lad up. It isn't doing either party well.

Agreed. I've been a long time advocate of Clevs and think he'll be a big player but he's not at Sahin's level yet. 2 years ago he was arguably the best central midfielder in Germany.

Still, they are somewhat similar players and I wouldn't want to bring in Sahin at the expense of Cleverley.
Cleverley will be great this year.

Question, how many of you think we would actually get Sahin on loan?
Would we not try to buy the player outright?
Just curious what people think.

I agree about Clevs Tommy. Think he'll have a big season this time if he can steer clear of injury. His class has shone through in both games I've seen GB play.
The bigger issue for me, and hence the looking at Sahin (in my head probably not by Utd mind) is what happens if Carrick were to go down with a serious injury? We're royally fucked. He's done well to avoid injuries but he's what 31 now? That's when the two weeks knocks become 5 or 6. You've seen it yourself.

The Argentine kid we have been linked with is apparently Carrick-esque so maybe there is something in that rumour, definitely dodgy going into the season with no back up for some one who even SAF claims is integral to any success we might achieve.

Argentine kid rumor , i remember came up only on Caughtoffside and DM. Nice if we get him ,
but i'd go for Sahin if he is available first then this kid. I still maintain that CM is more important than Moura or RvP. Forget Fear Factor, we win games , we will be feared

Thinking out loud here, but:
Sahin in on loan = More money for the possible RVP/Moura deals. If he were to be a success, surely we'd stump up the cash in January or next Summer.
Sounds like a plan to me.

as long as we get a CM , i wouldn't really mind which way and who else we got , but that's a plan which i am not sure we 'd go for. Larsson was the last person i think we got on loan and he too left soon after. Sahin if he ain't used as bait for Modric, we should go all out and get him

does fergie think we need sahin? Who cares. We do need him, and if The Gaffer misses that then he is being Wenger-blind or stubborn. ... [or doesn't want him] ... [or has other targets] ... [or knows he's not available] ...

Jay, what you said initially. Modric off to Real, Sahin off to Spurs. That's my gut feeling, also i can't remember the last time we took a player on loan, well not at the moment, i've had a long week in work..! My head is mush..!! lol Henrik Larsson

It pisses me off that we are not in for this kid.

I'd be more excited if we somehow managed to bring in Sahin rather than Moura, he's the type of player we need to eventually replace Carrick. Strange that we're not being linked, it's fairly obvious we should be right up for this, similar to the Kagawa deal. Sahin isn't getting playing minutes at Real, he's 23, and they're bringing in Modric. Phone up his agent and tell him he'll pivot the midfield at United, more regularly than at Real. For everyone saying it'll stop Cleverley's development, sure, maybe, but he'll have to fight for places like everyone else. Squad rotation etc will mean everyone will get plenty of game time and it breeds healthy competition. Sahin is class. Going to Arsenal or Spurs would be a waste for such a great player, whereas at United he might become and immensely successful footballer. www.turkish-football.com/news_read.php?id=3261At least we're being mentioned, even if it's probably bull.

Again, if Ferguson doesn't want him, then he's blind or stubborn. If he has other targets, then where are they. I'm working on the basis that Sahin is available because apparently he is. If he isn't then clearly I have no problem with our not having a serious look. Thinking out loud here, but: Sahin in on loan = More money for the possible RVP/Moura deals.
