We'll get Bale, if we spend barmy money on him.
We won't.

I think you're right. Personally I think we've missed the boat with Bale when he went Tottenham. It's easy to forget he was considered a left-back then. It's just pure luck he ended up in the Spurs team because Assou-Ekotto got injured when Bale was supposed to be going on loan to Nottingham Forest. Did really well attacking wise, couldn't defend, so Molten Face put him wide left and he thrived.

Quaresma has been released 6 months early from his contract, worth a punt on a free?

I wonder why that might be?
He was certainly a talent when he was younger but I have no idea what he is like now. He's got to be approaching 30 years of age - if he could still be developed then definitely worth a punt on a free....

Let the dippers dabble in the volatile "freebies" market.

Boss denies Scholes talk Sir Alex Ferguson has dismissed newspaper speculation that Paul Scholes has already decided to quit at the end of the season. The reports claimed the midfielder had told friends he was hanging up his boots - for good this time - after coming out of retirement last term. The manager is sceptical about the rumours as he has yet to have his own conversation on the subject with the veteran playmaker. "It's interesting that as Scholesy says very little so I'm surprised if he spoke to some pal before he spoke to me, which he hasn't done," said Sir Alex at his weekly press conference. "So you can dismiss that." The manager also responded to the suggestion that Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand will also depart next summer. " I think Giggs can play for another year or two years and Rio's form has been fantastic," he opined. "It's that type of speculation you expect with people on one-year contracts but I wouldn't give it too much credence." --------------------------------------------------------------------------- From Fergies conference today....no midfield signings for a couple of years then?

He also had my blood pressure spiking with comments about 'needing experience' in the Derby. I'm presuming/hoping to God he's bluffing again.

Surely not though. In 2 years, Giggs will be 41. 41 year olds should never get minutes for a club as big as ours who always challenge for trophies. I can see another contract coming, which Giggsy will sign just so he can contribute nothing and earn money for it.

So, City are in for Paulinho and some other midfield names. After Fernandinho's comments, anyone reckon he's coming here in Jan?

I'm not the biggest Giggs fan right now, but you've crossed the line with that last bit. You make him sound like a mercenary.

"Mercenary" implies only doing something to actually aid person or group cause in exchange for money. Giggsy doesn't help us in anyway, so he definitely ain't a "mercenary"!

I think Giggs can play for another year or two years No, he can't. To be fair, he didn't say "I think Giggs can play top tier football for another year or two years". He only said Giggs can play football... of some kind. Kidding aside, I'm of the opinion that Giggs and Scholes will both retire when Fergie does, and begin the new era as coaches to ensure continuity of the United creed.
