Well that Golden Company 'battle' was thoroughly underwhelming. I think the whole episode was to be fair, although I liked the Lord Varys scenes.
The Euron and Jamie scene was so forced as well, he just happened to wash up on the beach and then want a fight for no reason.

The meet cute was a bit forced I admit, but there were definite reasons for the fight.

The writers said that they chose Arya to be on the ground during the destruction of Kings Landing because they wanted a character people cared about to be in danger. It didn't work for me at all. It never really felt like she was in peril because it felt like such an unlikely end for her character. All her near misses were just annoying more than anything. Also, she came from the Red Keep. Arya is one of the few people with knowledge of the passages and exits under the keep. Why didn't she escape that way?
I saw someone suggest that it should have been Davos instead, and I absolutely agree. All those scenes would have been so much better with Davos.

But I still also think it was Arya in those scenes because she's going to be the one to kill Dany. You know, she saw first hand the desctruction she caused.
I do agree that if it was just to create tension for the audience by putting someone in peril, Davos would've been a much better choice.

Agree 100% with the Davos suggestion - a) because it's his home and b) because I would have genuinely feared for him. They could have still done one Arya fake out and the horse at the end.

So I've never really watched this but I understand they've totally fucked it? Not totally fucked it, but the overall quality has taken a massive hit. It's basically rushed fan fiction at this point, and a lot of stuff doesn't make as much sense as it should. It's still decent, but it has been disappointing. I think it's fair to say that if the first two seasons were of the same quality as the last two, the show would never have become as popular.

I don't know. It feels like Arya's story has run its course now that Cersei is dead. I hope she doesn't have all that much to do in the final episode, there are other characters that deserve a big moment.

I think it's fair to say that if the first two seasons were of the same quality as the last two, the show would never have become as popular. Agree with everything bar the last part. I think the stuff we've seen this season is exactly the reason it became so popular to a wider audience. Spectacular battle and action sequences, sex and over the top humour often involving someone referring to fucking someone or something.
Only people complaining about it seem to be die hard fans who were all about the politics of the earlier seasons and can see they were clearly better and more well constructed, well written and more intelligent television. Plenty of people are very much just "Yeah!! Blow some things up!!!"
I'm not going to say I'm disappointed overall. Still been exciting, entertaining television but there have been far too many holes and far too many nonsensical decisions in the story for it to be as perfect as it should and needed to be.
It's a spectacular series visually. Hollywood stuff and way out in front of anything I've ever seen on T.V in that aspect. Having said that I used to be absolutely certain it was the best TV show I'd ever seen or would ever see but I don't think that's the case any more. The first 4 seasons or so definitely are but the entire show can't be if the final seasons are providing so many disappointments. Shows like The Sopranos, for instance, maintained absolute perfection from beginning to end.

I thought so too but I feel the final scene with her on the pale horse will prove to be significant.

So I've never really watched this but I understand they've totally fucked it? No, the show is still the best thing on t.v. The problem it has suffered is that the world & story of GOT is so big that there's just no satisfying way to end it. It can't be done. the writers are having to cut a lot of corners to end the show & people are getting really salty about it. I understand it but everyone needs to just calm down. Last episode had something huge that's rarely been seen on t.v but everyone is micro analysing every characters story arc. They aren't wrong, there's just no way to make everyone happy. It's been a joy to watch & I feel sorry for people who haven't taken the time to watch the show yet. You should do it.

Nowhere near fucked. So many whiney cunts out there because the show isn't going the way they want it to or its not following the books, even though it swayed away from the books ages ago.
Don't see what everyone problem is with this season, think its been one of the best. The only slight criticism is that some things seem a bit rushed and a little underwhelming. Other than that its great...oh and Sansa still being alive.
One of the best shows ever released, love seen unexpected turns and twists. Is what makes is as good as it is.

Many shows I've enjoyed have become completely unwatchable, I'm still enjoying it and I sympathise with the writers. I fully believe that George R.R Marting intends to die before finishing the series. Maybe the show being finished to mixed reviews will relax him a bit.

I would compare the show to our performances, consistently brilliant and often nail-biting in the past, but sadly quite predictable and far less entertaining recently.
My wife was on the edge of her seat during the battle whereas I was messing on my phone as I found it very repetitive and drawn out. Sorry but I'm in the "underwhelmed" camp.
