Now that we have RvP I wouldn't mind us selling Rooney. I've never really forgiven him for the 'incident', but we've always been so dependent on him that selling him was never really a pleasant option. But if we could get decent money for him and use the proceeds to buy Lewandowski and a midfielder, I'd take it. Don't be stupid. Wayne is the best and most influential player in the league. If Fergie signs this lad surely questions have to be asked. We don't need 5 strikers.

^ Agree. Selling Wayne is a stupid notion and one which the gaffer won't be doing.

Sorry Dan but thats a daft theory, ur opinion is your own of course but I do disagree with some of it.
Rvp has 3 or 4 seasons tops at high level Wazza has a lot more. Plus granted Van Persie has been monumental but Rooneys ability and presence on the pitch cant be matched. When he doesnt play you can see it on the pitch, No other player has that impact for us. plus he is our best all round player by far. Hes the heartbeat of the team.
I do agree about what he did and nobody will forgive him for it entirely im sure, I wont but he has put the effort in to make it up to the fans he let down. I still think theres more to come from Rooney. The only player I would entertain selling him for would be Ronaldo. That is it for me.

Rooney still is the heartbeat of this Utd side. He can have days when he's terrible certainly but when he is firing he drives us on like no other player in the league.

Okay, I seem to be getting stick for my opinion, so let me clarify. I'm not saying we should sell Rooney. I'd rather we kept him, obviously. I was responding to the suggestion that he could be the one that paves way for Lewandowski. What I meant is that, with RvP on board losing Rooney wouldn't be as big a loss as he once would have been. If we get good money, by which I mean no less than £50m, I would consider selling him if I was the board. The key, for me, is where that money would go. If we could get a couple of top midfielders in for that £50m+, and what with Hernandez, RvP, Welbeck and Lewandowski up top, I think we'd be a better team.

We will never be a better team by selling Wayne Rooney. Never. I don't like what he did either. If he wants to leave I will not care but I'll be damned if we want to sell him while we still have the pensioners starting games for us. Wayne is the true all round player in football today. Can do anything the team needs, front , midfield and defense. The lad will even take up the keeper's gloves if that's what the team needs. Selling Wayne = massive loss.

Dan - if a non-English club comes in and stumps up a fee of more than £60m+++, I think United might be tempted. And why not? If United can find and replace Rooney with another younger version of a dynamic (or more so) player, then it makes sense.
However, if selling Rooney and not replacing him - this will be a horrendous mistake. This point, plus the fact that in this world there aren't too many better players than Rooney than what he does currently, who will also want to come to United.
I'm also really not sure if we need Lewandowski. We require another winger (if all our wingers remain in the squad next summer); either a right back or a centre back (depends if you shift Jones to play as RB or CB); and most importantly - box-box midfield general. I left out LB since I'm still in high hopes that Fabio can challenge Buttner for the future spot.

i think this story is just bollocks from last season when we may have been in for him along with Rvp in case we failed with RvP.
I still think that we'd go for a Winger primarily as we were ready to stump 30-35 mil last season for one. If we do get Holtby (apparently on the free), then perhaps but it still be along shot and it could mean that Rooney gets to operate from the Mid. I am defo against selling him .

If it's down to finances we don't stand a chance. And tbh I don't feel Lewandowski has any preferred destination apart from staying in Germany and playing for Bayern. Can't see this one happening at all, I'd rather stick with what we got up front (RvP, Hernandez, Welbz) Rooney can also just leave imo!

But I'd love Lewandowski to sign......if Rooney is departing.I just dont know what to make of this Rooney saga.......trial by media.....Fergie mind games....who knows ? (I suspect most of it comes down to his agent) but he has certainly fallen short of his usually high standards this past 18 months. If it is all true....Lewandowski would be a suitably awesome replacement (although I would have a slight niggle of concern for the future of Chicorito and Danny ! ). I think Kagawa and RVP will be the main strike force this season and it is arguable wether Lewandowski would get the game time if Kagawa is played in his correct position (unless there is an awful lot of squad rotation to get game time for all the attackers or as he has at times, Moyes has deployed a 3-4-3 formation with Everton, I wonder if we'll be seeing this at United. (was it maclarren that tried that for England? not sure !) It's gonna be interesting to see who we actually sign this summer, we have been linked with so many!!! David Moyes starts his official management-ship on Monday so we'll soon get some output from the club (and fingers crossed three immediate signings), but nobody really knows, the media are just guessing, we're just speculating but one thing for sure, this is the most exciting closed season in years.......wnything could happen, nobody knows what david Moyes has up his sleeve. I think he'll be a great United manger and if it shapes up a little rocky in the first few months, so be it (at least we didn't get the self infatuated one ! ).

I got to agree....i mean it could have happened long time before but it didn't. Bayern at the moment is the new Barca, is strong and healthy, Lewandowski would probably prefer to stay there and play for Munich.
