I think his performance against Russia tonight (v good imo) will price him off our radar. As I think we will play 4-4-2 in many games against weaker opposition -it would not be a luxury to have a fourth fit striker -esp of a different type -so I think he fits the bill. Would not mind him joining us at all -but he won't come cheap.

He's a top player, physical, fast and willing to take on players. Everything a club needs from a forward leading the line up, Brussia seem keen to keep him at the club having already lost Kagawa. Love it if we got him but having read todays papers i'm not to hopeful.

I actually hope he stays at Dortmund, I don't want to see that team torn apart because of their success. I might be a Schalke follower, but it's nice to see a team really sticking two fingers up at Munich.
I think Welbeck can do everything Lewa can do anyway, and he's ours already.

They must be doing something right, Sahin, Gotze, Kagawa, Perisic and Lewa, Hummels, Subotic, amongst others, are all absolutely top class.

Maybe a swap deal where Berbatov goes the other way?

Maybe a swap deal where Berbatov goes the other way? You wouldn't hear me complaining if that happened.

He can only be priced so highly as he has two years left on his contract and it seems likely that he will want to leave as Dortmund have won all they can apart from the Champions league. Perfect time for them to sell if he asks to leave.
Also Berbatov seems to be developing into a signing nobody wants to make because of his age and wages. You wouldn't go swapping a top striker in his 20's on probably about 50k a week for 31 year old Berbatov on 100k+

I think Berba would do well with someone like Kagawa behind him. Just saying, I'd be quietly pleased if he stayed...

I wouldn't mind Berba staying either. He has 10 goals in him for the season and we might need that. Click Manchester are reporting that Dortmund have slapped a £40m price tag on Lewandowski, but they usually report on stuff they hear homeless people say in the streets. So I wouldn't necessarily pay much attention to it. www.click-manchester.com/sport/manchester-united/1216632-borussia-dortmund-slap-%C3%8240-million-price-tag-on-manchester-united-target-lewandowski.html?However, if Berbatov and Owen both leave I think we should get another striker in. I'm not confident Macheda has what it takes, although he was very promising when he was 17. Will Keane might still be too young, but if Ferguson thinks they are good enough, so do I. Lewandowski looks very solid and the sad thing would be to see another premiership club snap him up.

Why would you want Berbatov to stay? He is right near the top of our wage structure. If he earns a bare minimum of 100k per week then we have to pay him around 5 million per season. He'll be sitting on the bench again, even Fergie's said we don't want him because of the lack of pace. We won't pay over half our turnover on wages and he's a massive part of that singlehandedly so would halt further signings which we need instead of a man sitting on his arse on a fat wage slip.

Why would you want Berbatov to stay? Because he's a cult hero and most of us love him. Like someone said earlier - sometimes you have to do away with logic.

Berbas not a cult hero Theres been question marks through his entire stay at the club, he's rarely clicked in properly. Shift him on and lower the wage bill so we can bring in others. Solskjaer only being able to play 15 games a season on 100k would be cult vs logic, not Berba

SS1, I just think Berba still has qualities that make him a United player. We're not THAT skint that we so desperately need him off our wage bill and the club even said, if they don't get a fair price they wont sell. I love Berba, he's got the best touch in our entire squad and, not too long ago, was top scorer in the league. It's not his fault he isn't picked after all, he's not pulling a Hargreaves.
Sure his wages are fairly high and he's likely to go but if we're talking about spending 30 million on a 4th striker when many of us think we're sufficiently covered there then that 5 mil doesn't seem too bad for a player who knows the club, the league and, more importantly, his team-mates. I've always thought Berba would've done even better had we possessed a player capable of thinking on his level creatively, as well as putting balls precisely where they need to be. Someone like Kagawa.

Next - How do you define a cult hero? If Forlan's brace at Anfield could earn him that tag I'm pretty certain Berba's hat trick at OT matched that. Anyway, to me he is. And I'm willing to hazard a guess that most of us feel that way about him.

If thats your own opinion i'm not going to argue, I wouldn't represent most other United fans with having a particular fondness for Berbatov though. My version of a 'cult hero' is more personality based, as well as contributions such as that. We played better with Saha up top than ever under Berbatov. Ferguson dropping him for £7million Hernandez and an up and coming Welbeck shows how much he shook off previous tags! He was also dropped for the Champions League final (entire) squad. If i'm offered get rid of Berba for Lewandowski who will get in the box and cause problems, as opposed to one who will slow down the game completely, theres one winner.
