I'd love Moutinho at the club his long range passing and his skill on the ball makes him just the player we need and at £25 million cheaper than a few others.

Every hint of that I see add that Porto want around 25/26 mil as an aside. If this happens I'll be incredibly excited at our prospects this season Carrick \ Valencia Moutinho Kagawa Young / Rooney (Cant figure out how to edit this correctly) That'd be an exciting 4-5-1 for a change. Obviously horses for courses and we'll switch it up to start Welbeck and Hernandez more, but we'd have the midfield personnel to really be able to rotate and pick the form players for the big matches! Mix Clevers, Ando and Scholes in there too and we've got a solid bunch for a long season.Great, healthy competition for midfield slots.

Moutinho to Utd seems VERY possible to me. We can only hope and pray... Is it only The Times that is reporting the bid? If so, how real is this?

United make £20 bid for Moutinho Manchester United have tabled a former offer, believed to be about £20million, for Joao Moutinho, the Portugal midfield player. United contacted Porto, the 25-year-old's present club, this week to establish their valuation of the playmaker and they returned with an opening offer yesterday. It is thought that Porto are prepared to sell Moutinho, an £8.5million signing from Sporting Lisbon two years ago, but want as much as £26million. United are likely to face intense competition from Tottenham for the player, who worked with Andre Villas-Boas, Spurs' newly appointed manager, at Porto in 2010. Villas-Boas has earmarked Moutinho as his priority recruit should Luka Modric leave White Hart Lane. Rory Smith, The Times

Bit early to get excited but it would be a good signing for us...we'll probably have to increase the offer though....

go on Fergie do the business. He'd be an excellent partner for Carrick. The thought of signing Moutinho sits much nicer with me than Tiote and one or two others we've been touting.
Not that United needs selling to anybody, but wonder if Jeff has been in his ear at all in the portugal camp.

this deal I want very much to happen, haven't seen loads of him but that performance against the 6 man Spain midfield for 120mins was good enough for me. As compared to someone like Modric his younger and should be cheaper. And hes a fucking cantral midfielder, make it happen NOW.

Promising signs. I'm all in agreement with Jimbo. Moutinho with Carrick is an excellent idea. Though I'd love Tiote, the African Cup period will always leave us vulnerable at our most important time. Besides. Tiote would come at 30+ million. Cracking player no doubt, but Moutinho happening is more possible than Tiote ever happening.

Would be a brilliant signing if it happens, can stick a foot in whilst also being a great playmaker, something which we've needed for a long time. Promising that it's from the Times as out of all the papers they are the ones that generally have the best sources relating to United. Moutinho + LB along with who we've already signed and it'd be a great summer for me.

Rory Smith has good sources around the game, so there's probably weight to the rumours. Moutinho for anything less than £25mill is solid business, and represents better value than Cabaye at £20mill and Modric at £30mill+.

As Rory has already stated on Twitter as well, I don't think you'll ever see a team accept a clubs first offer so I'm sure with a bit of negotiation we can stretch to another £4m - £6m.
