I remember making a similar point when people started freaking out over the terms of the Ashley Young deal. Both are good players in positions we need(ed) to strengthen. I'd rather overpay and get called a cheque book team than miss out and suffer on the pitch.

good player. worth £25 million imo. but Sir Alex hinted that he is working on getting a player or two that he has been working on for a while. so my guess is Baines and Strootman are his main targets.

Cant understand why some people are so hung up on how much money to spend. These bastards{glazers} are rotten with it. You usually have to overpay to snag a top player. Wish they would get Baines and bring in a top spanish {portugese?} midfielder and then we will be set. And hope Berba will stay.

And hope Berba will stay. because we care that longterm the club will be in trouble if we are not prudent. even if we had the money i for one am not into silly spending. there are 2 players that one can really justify paying silly money for and thats ron and messi, if beckham were 15 years younger then throw him in as marketing wise you'll get your money back. cabaye is a decent shout probably cost alot less than moutinho. i expect moutinho to move somewhere for about 25 million whereas cabaye would be 15 million, as said he has had a season in the prem and did well. i for one dont think we are in a for those type of players. leftback and a dm who is mobile is what i suspect is on the cards. |

Martinez is more or less nailed on to go to Bayern, so forget him.
Moutinho will be perfect for us. He can tackle, pass, create, get beyond defences with runs, can take a set-piece. I think he has all the tools necessary to succeed here, and would be very excited to see a midfield 3 of him, Carrick and Kagzilla.
