In the 'player unveiling' the Gaffer said Powell's future is as a central midfielder. The lad agreed. I think we might play him in there more than we're all expecting. yeah this has occurred to me. if powell is the match winner that some people suggest then i can see him leap frogging cleverley in the next couple of seasons

Nah, Carrick would be phased out before Cleverley starts to get over-looked. He's the present and future of our midfield for the next 10 years.

We've got Kagawa and Powell. I can see us signing Baines then that's your lot for this window. If that's the case then that is only 60% tops of what i'd see as the ideal summer's worth of business. A center mid like Moutinho and a RB would have also been on my shopping list. I agree with this. Can see a left-back possibly Baines, nothing else. Don't think there is a need for a right-back though. Rafael is the way forward.

Carrick is currently 30 years. Pirlo is 33 years and still on top of his game. And not to mention that Scholes is 37 and is still hailed as one of the best midfielders in the world.
I think Carrick might stay in the game till 35 and maybe beyond.

^ Yeah, not sure if we'll move him on as we did with Park, O'Shea and Brown over the next few years. But I'm confident he would be there abouts in football till >35.

I like the business we have done so far. I now hope that we add a full back and central midfielder before the window closes. Anything on top of that is a bonus.

If we sign 4 players this window I think it will be a real statement of intent. Maybe floating on NY stock exchange was to provide the necessary funds for this window???

So, assuming we get Moura and Van Persie, I'd rate this as our best Summer since 98, when we signed Stam, Blomqvist and Yorke.
If after City winning the league, someone said we'd sign one of the best youngsters in this country, one of the most accomplished midfielders in Europe last season, on the relative cheap. One of the best young players in the world and last seasons top goal scorer. You'd be over the moon with that.
Admittedly the two areas that need strengthening, Midfield and Left Back haven't been fully addressed, but I guess we'll look at that next year.

They are all good players but I think it would be overkill.

You could say overkill, but after the way last season ended, what a message it sends not just to City and our other rivals, but also to our OWN players. These players would have been distraught after last season, and they would have already gone into the coming season with extra determination, but what a confidence boost it must be that we could potentially add RvP and Moura, on top of Powell and Kagawa.
Also, how nice would it be to have a Rooney playing for his position, no longer assured of his starting place. I know most of the time he would be starting, but when his form drops, we just throw in RvP. How do you think Rooney would respond - I doubt it would by sulking. And that's worth it.
