*Reads an article about United trying to sign Modric, Van Persie, Moutinho, Titus Bramble, Zidane and Kobe Bryant*...Yawwwnnn
Instead of wild speculation, why don't we evaluate how we've done so far. Now, obviously, this thread will bare more relevance towards the end of the summer than now, but what make you guys of how we've conducted ourselves in the market this year? Personally, I think this has been one of our most productive windows in a long time.
OUT: Park Ji Sung, Fabio Da Silva (loan), Pogba
Right time to sell Park, especially since we sold him for more than we bought him. QPR is the right type of club to loan Da Silva out to: top tier english club. Little disappointing on Pogba, but there's no reason to keep someone who had that type of desire (or lack thereof) to play for United. Now If we can find a buyer for Berbatov, it'll be just about perfect as far as departures go.
IN: Powell, Kagawa
Lose Pogba, bring in Powell. I like it. Kagawa is, of course, self-explanatory. Really solid signing.
Also, we penned Rafael to a new deal which is only good news.
We need to accept that we're no longer in a financial position to compete with the Madrids, Citys, Chelseas and Barcelonas of this world. Those four clubs are the ideal destination for most players for obviou$ reasons. Sure, we can offer Tottenham £30 million for Modric like Madrid can, but can we offer him £150,000+ a week like Madrid? In a four year contract, that's basically another £30 million on top of the sign on fee. It's these exorbitant wages that we just cannot afford. Other than Ferdinand and Rooney, we have no one at this club earning over £100,000. Now compare that to Man City and Chelsea.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love another signing. But overall, this has been a very good squad refreshing I think. What hurt us the most in our failures last season was the amount of injuries, not the lack of quality in our squad.
