Well this transfer window just got a whole lot better.
I remember someone from the club saying that we're looking to spend 40m net this window. How are we shaping up. I think we've brought in about 8m from sales, plus the expected sales of Berba and Macheda(?), does that mean we may have a bit more in the kitty for a midfielder or Baines/a left back?

Kagawa and RVP for £34Mill is fantastic business. I think we need a left back, but otherwise our team is looking pretty spiffing. Our main prob last year was fire power. Kagawa and RVP undoubtedly solve that.
I know alot of folk are harking on about another long term centre midfielder, but if Ando can stay fit, perhaps its not something we need to worry about? If Fletcher can stay fit for half a season then I honestly think we're dancing! Scholesy, Carrick, Fletch, Ando, Clevs and Giggsy....really not that bad if we can keep them fit!!!!
I was a bit worried about Hernandez and Welbeck's development, but the realist in my head says that they are a few years away from competing at Champs League level. RVP on the other hand....well he's in the prime of his career! I think this purchase puts us in a great position in Europe.
Where Berba goes is the question?

After seeing Carrick and Cleverley for England tonight (and across pre-season) plus Anderson's form, if we can get a full season from the three of those, we don't need another midfielder quite as badly as I and others think.
Coming 'round to the idea we can cope by getting teams shit-scared of us again so they don't have the dare to try and pass through us.
Still need cover for Pat though, if Blackett isn't expected to step up or something.

After seeing Carrick and Cleverley for England tonight (and across pre-season) plus Anderson's form, if we can get a full season from the three of those, we don't need another midfielder quite as badly as I and others think. Aye midfield is looking alright at the moment, both Ando and Cleverley are coming out of pre-season fit and in form. Just need more luck than last season. At least this time around if we end up in dire need of a midfielder we have Kagawa to fill in, not Park or a fullback. Cleverley admits himself he has a big season coming up, one that will probably define his career. I think he's ready and if goes well with him, we wont need a midfield signing. Defense is amazingly coming out of the off season with a mini injury crisis. Hopefully Vidic and Evans arent to far off now. It would be nice to have the cover at LB even if its just a cheapish punt on someone. For now though it just seems weird we loaned out Fabio. It seems a gaping hole in the squad to me. Maybe Blackett will get a look in but defense isn't easy for a young inexperienced lad. Kagawa, RVP and Powell (and Henriquez). Not a bad summer at all. Leaves us at about £40mill net which was mentioned last week, so well probably sell before buying, if we do at all. |

IF everyone is fit and plays to their potential then we're in for an exciting season...BUT....you know there's an injury crisis (either defensive or midfield) just around the corner waiting to screw things up.

I dont think Blacket is quite there yet judging from pre season.We must have something up our sleeves as it is insanity to loan Fabio out and leave ourselves bare.

Whats running through my head is it seems we were pursuing RVP and Lucas Moura at the same time... Henriquez was a done deal. The money that was potentially to be used on Moura is that still available funds  Which could mean we have 20 odd mil to play with. |

I am rating this window as a 7.5/10 so far. A quality LB would take it to 9/10. A quality central Midfielder would take it to 11/10!

If the summer's transfer business were a Rockstar game, it'd be at about 83% completion at the moment.
Just need to find those last few hidden packages and pull off a unique stunt (signing a left-back).

I think this is the ver last season we can afford Anderson. He has more to prove this season than any other. If he can realise that bundle of potential that we all know he has then he is the man. If not then he will be out next summer im sure.
