This could actually be very very plausible as he only has a year left on his contract, could be available for dirt cheap and he's a decent player.
Dembele's stats against Norwich (Off the twattersphere):
passing - 70/73 (96%) tackles won 1/1 ground duels 5/6 air duels 1/1 dribbles completed 3/3.

I actually heard he had more successful tackles than anyone in the prem last season.

People will be surprised to know that he made the second most tackles in the PL last season, just 3 behind Cabaye so that's more than the likes of Parker, Song etc.
Taken from another forum, I think this sums him up pretty well;
'If I'm going to be silly and compare him to current United players, he's like a weird blend between Carrick and Anderson.
He's got Carrick's passing and height, with Anderson's pace, ability to carry the ball and shield it with his body.'
For around the £10m mark he could turn out to be a brilliant buy, I'd certainly have more faith in him than Anderson.

i've listened to respectable people say he's quality. it's just odd that every time i've watched him [admittedly not often] he's looked very ordinary.

I wouldn't mind us signing him, but we'll need to offload before we sign him or it wold cause too much congestion in midfield.

I wouldn't mind us signing him, but we'll need to offload before we sign him or it wold cause too much congestion in midfield. It seems short-sighted to think like that. Giggs and Scholes are 2 of our 5 first team CM's and we cant keep them going forever. We are yet to know for sure about Fletcher and over the course of this season I feel a final decision will be made on Ando. Point is I think it a good idea to be trying to bring someone in for bedding now if we can find someone decent. We'll need replacements soon enough and I'd rather someone came in before we actually need them. I feel we probably will look to offload Berba, for somewhere around £8mill and maybe use those funds for similar level punt on someone else (Dembele/Herrera etc). Would round off a good window for me that we if we at least attempt to change up something in midfield. Also I doubt we need worry about Scholes and Giggsy feelings if they got completely shut out anyway, I think they understand.

As is Anderson. No matter how old or inconsistent they are, they still occupy berths in a 25 man squad where you only have place for about 6-7 central midfielders at the most.

That only matters if you're suggesting we should be looking at strengthening somewhere else in the squad but wouldn't then be able to accommodate in the 25 if we sign a CM. Strengthening somewhere that's not central midfield, blasphemer Not sure precisely where we are on the squad registration, think its close. I'm certain we'll move Berba along soon, its a waste of his time and our money him being here. Surely we'll be able to move a striker who got golden boot 14 months ago, clubs always need a goalscorer. and there nothing to gain from going into the season below the 25.

Fair enough. I guess I'm also slightly uncomfortable about us having spent quite a bit this summer.

We still have £10mill to go to get up to last summers level and we still should have an out going or two. We've barely spent more than an Andy Carrol so far Kagawa was a steal.

A good performance from him today, certainly put himself up in the shop window a bit. Quick, big, strong and good all around play. Surely its got to be worth going with 'another' bid at some point this week, with his contract winding down.
