If Moyles was givena big club with patience (just like Sir Alex was) I'd wager that he could become one of the most successful in the modern era.
Moyles has an Everton team with little funding, little appeal and turned them into 1)the best Merseyside team and 2) a perennial UEFA cup qualifier/Occasional Champs league
They don't have the money to bandy about, yet are always able to tactically outplay big teams. Always able to land themselves in the top 7. Which is phenomenal considering Newcastle, Stoke, Sunderland, Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal, Villa, Chelski, Shitty and us all have way, way bigger budgets to spend on improving the squad.
I'd argue to the death that Moyles has more upside than most flash in the pan European managers.

@bestie - Wow. Dissected. Dissected extremely well. I'll ask you one question. Tell me, did you think Valencia was United quality when he signed? Or even Ashley Young? Thank you. Yes and yes, actually. I wanted us to sign Ashley Young from Watford as it happens. I just don't get why some people are mocked when they suggest a player might be able to do well for us. And not just players. David Moyes - 3 time League Manager of the Year. Suggested. Mocked. I get that some people's views might be different from others. But when others bring up names of established players/personnel who in their opinion can do well for the club, they are met with ridicule. I don't understand this attitude. That's all I was trying to say. I think that ridicule is strong. We might disregard a player but outright mockery of the poster I don't think is that common. For me, when anyone suggests an SPL player for us to sign, I will probably "mock" out of exasperation. Certainly, I reckon any ridicule from everyone re. other players will be if the name has been brought up before and discussed and ultimately dimissed. Someone compared David Moyes to Bebe. Really?!! I don't agree with it but that is pretty funny.

based on yesterdays game ALONE, i'd say dembele was streets ahead of anderson, the player most similar to him. that's the type of game i think Ferguson wants from ando. Dembele did well yesterday, he's tough to get off the ball, that's for sure!! Thought Anderson did well overall.

He seems to have a lot going for him - v strong -good technique. It may cause too much chaos to get him in now -which is a shame. As others have said -he would give us a bit more steel.

Dembele has been playing consistently for the majority of the last two seasons. That is not the case with Ando. I think Ando has greater basic talent and skills than Dembele. He just needs to play consistently and he will far exceed what we saw Dembele do against us on Saturday. Dembele is a very good player, but I still think Ando is far better. Just wait and see. That being said. I wouldn't mind seeing Dembele at the club. He has the ability to play like a box-to-box midfielder and he would definitely contribute to the team.

We've waited for ages to see Ando's so-called potential.
I too hope he comes good but imagine he gets injured again and we arrive next season looking at signing exactly the player we're in need of, only then all of the most ideal candidates will have moved on to bigger clubs.

Our favourite and most trusted transfer outlet (Twitter) is linking us with a move for Dembele before Friday. Who is Alistair Ferguson? He's making the most noise about it.

Personally i would love for Dembele to come to United. Saw him play against us and i wanted to sign him then and there, what a great player. Says he is more comfortable as a midfielder which is great because we need a good tackler (he had one of the highest amount of tackles in that game). The lad can also score and assist, his ability to hold on to the ball and beat defenders is what we are missing in the middle of the park, perfect fit into the United team.

I've been keen on him since I watched him tear the dippers apart at Craven Cottage last season on Sky. Can't remember the result but he run the show. Although unlikely to happen, how good would this side be:
DDG Rafael - Rio - Vidic - Evra Carrick - Dembele Valencia - Kagawa - Rooney van Persie

That team lacks something though. Namely a Cleverley. Has everybody missed how good he has been linking with Shinja-Ninja?

I was just about to say Bestie, I've grown pretty at ease with the midfield setup with Clevers and Scholes and, eventually, Clevers and Carrick in front of the back four. A midfield ball winner would be great but maybe we can just throw Jones in there with that type of role if needed - specifically just out there to break up play and clatter people.
In any case we're unlikely to bring in the box to box player we've all been calling for for ages so It might be time to take stock and get used to what we do have. Let's hope, for the sake of the Ando-preachers, our bulky Brazilian stays fit.

as much as we do need a destroyer in our CM, the Ando - Cleverly - Shinji triple threat did look good, and i wouldnt be totally gutted if we left them to it until at the earliest January.
but as we know 2 of those three have doubts to make it through the season without a major knock, so that would be a risk. last season they looked just as good until practically after the transfer window closed, then it was back to the sick room for both.

I'm becoming more and more convinced with what I've seen this season that our problem isn't the players in midfield at all, it's our entire mentality without the ball.
Kagawa and Cleverley have been really good in both games, Ando played well at the weekend. With the ball. When we didn't have possession, not a one of them really went and got in the face of whoever oppo player had it, just dropped right off into our own half. Even trying to deal with Dembele's running, they sort of ran beside him.
Previously, I've always blamed the players for lacking, but Kagawa is nothing like that, at least he wasn't for Dortmund. Cleverley generally wouldn't have een like that at Watford or Wigan. Ando didn't pay that way in his first season. I'm worried all these players are being instructed to defend that way. On the positive, if it is tactics, we don't need to sign anyone just change the mentality.
