Bestie you'd have a point if we were talking about goals just last season, but a lot of the goals he's scored this calendar year will contribute to the league title they've basically already won this time around.

I wasn't trying to do/say anything. I was being genuine, 85 goals in a calender year is ridic good but Barca lost the league and in the European Cup. Those are the two trophies the biggest teams in Europe want to win. Of course, La Liga for this season looks over already, and we don't know who will win at Wembley come next May, but until then it has been 85 goals for no silverware. That's all I was saying.

Rooney Van Persie could score 100 goals in 2013 but it'll mean little if city win the League and Dortmund win the European Cup and we end up potless again.

EDIT: Rooney isn't going to score 100 goals in a year, what was I thinking. Sorry. RvP.

rooney needs another 100 or so in the league to catch shearer's record. he'd need to have a real glittering next 5-6 years, scoring 20 plus league goals a season. would love him to do it

Yes, Messi has 86, but there're 4 or 5 more games left in 2012. I meant 85 is an isane amount to score and he's bettered it, will probably hit 90.

Van Persie has been unlucky not to score some beautiful goals this season. That one that hit the bar today when Young scored, the one when he hit the bar against Villa etc.

I think we're gonna see some beauties at some stage.
