On the verge of signing him according to reports for 18m euroes. twitter.com/_GoncaloLopes - also confirmed by him who is pretty much the guy to ask in regards to any Portuguese related transfers. Never really seen (/ noticed) him playing to be honest so not sure what to think? Supposedly the replacement for Rio which would make sense with Vidic's injuries. Anyone seen enough of him to say whether they think he'd be a good buy? I guess if it does happen that signals the end of interest in Hummels. |

Not too sure what to make of this, Yanga-Mbiwa, who has been hyped for an age, just went for under 10 mil and we're supposedly going to pay 18 mil for a 26 year old who hardly features for Argentina and was initially sold by Real?  A quick glance at twitter and current tabloid gash and it seems our offer has been rejected. Though, in all fairness, there could have been no offer at all. The beauty of transfer season, even a no-story becomes a story. |

We have Jones, Smalling, Evans and Vidic for next year along with youngsters keane and wooton and now we are spending 20 mil on another centre half. What a load of old gash

we need to get Smalling into the center of that defence ASAP. he's the natural replacement for Rio. there's a partnership there with Jones or Evans that'll serve us for years to come. if Rio is leaving then i'd rather we signed an experienced defender who can come in when required, and build the defence around the young defenders we've already got instead of buying another one.
