Didnt hear of Rene`s involvement, I do remember the Dutch scout claiming that Buttner was 5th out of the 5 prospects he scouted/recommended. Heard that 5th out of 5 bit too.

Defensively he is atrocious, no exaggeration, he doesnt know the first thing about defending. He quite good going forward though, great crosses(remember them?)behind Ladnan as our best LW option IMO.

I honestly wouldn't mind trying out Buttner as a proper LW. Imagine if he turns out like a certain Welshman playing for Madrid now.

It isn't as if Zaha is going to get a game... On the subject of clear outs, I am fast losing patience with Tom Cleverley...I thought he did really well at Watford and loved it when he and Ando turned the game around in the Community Shield but he has gone backwards since that terrible injury against Bolton... He was terrible last night and I can't see what he adds to the team... Maybe I am being too harsh but he needs some time away from the first team and maybe he'll come good like Aaron Ramsay did eventually after his injury...

Here's what I just found about the Buttner scouting report... Even the Red Devils' Dutch scout told Algemeen Dagblad, via Goal.com, that the left-sider was just the "third- or fourth-best player in his position in the Eredivisie in 2012."

Hey I was only clarifying...as it happens he could still be a decent squad left winger...he seems to offer more than Young going forward... ...oh wait...so does almost anyone...

Yet we bought him! That's not the glazers fault Could be that they wouldn't sanction a bigger money move for the top Dutch left-back.

Like they did with all those central midfielders we signed in the last few years?

If keep de gea, welbz, jones, smalling, Zaha, Rooney, rvp, Januzaj the rest will go almost unnoticed
Giggs will retire Rio will retire or leave Vidic will be released Evra will no longer be first choice Anderson will be gone maybe this window Young off in the summer

Interesting article from Robbie Savage on a clear-out of United's squad... www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25665649Reckons Smalling, Fabio, Ferdinand, Fellaini, Anderson, Giggs, Nani, Young, Cleverley, Valencia and Hernandez should all be sold/retire. I think he's wrong on Smalling, Fabio and Hernandez, and maybe Cleverley, but the rest he's spot on with. However he also reckons that United need to spend £200m to overhaul the squad, which would be wonderful but in reality is never going to happen.

Only three players (Stewart Downing, Morgan Amalfitano and Ahmed Elmohamady) have completed more open crosses in the Premier League this season than Valencia (16).
