I'm not sold on Van Gaal but i think he might be just what we need right now. Ancelotti is a yes man to the owners, that might seem harsh but it's true. He doesn't have a great history of promoting youth either. Van Gaal could impart a lot of knowledge of Giggs & the rest & there could be a chance of Van Gaal being here for three years & someone like Giggs or Ole being ready to take over.

We need swagger, Van Gaal has it in spades.
I'm crying with laughter here, just read in the paper that when he was appointed as the head coach at Ajax he congratulated one of the directors for 'signing the best coach in the world'. lol.

Ancelotti has had to work for 2 ridiculous owners in the past. That doesn't make him a yes man.. His boss at AC Milan (Silvio Berlusconi who is now in prison) was one of the biggest crocks in Europe with massive links to the mafia. Don't even start me with Roman over at Chelski, i man who stole his wealth... Ancelotti also made Kaka one of my all time fav players. But i do agree he has no real track record of promoting youth. I do share you concerns with Van Gaal and i agree he would be good for Giggs. But please dont mention Ole, in a perfect parallel universe then yes. He is a legend, but who knows how he will turn out. Cardiff to me was a big mistake for him

Yes man sounds like i'm having a go, I'm not but it is true. He'll work for Woodward & the Glazers rather than himself. That's what he's always done.

The main thing to remember with signing LvG as our new manager is that next season isn't the last season on earth. Yes he is 62 (think that's right) and most will be worried that he's to old to take over but were not looking for a 10, 15, 20 year coach right now. What were wanting is a proven winner. A coach with a classy history. A CV littered with medals and trophys to show there class. Experience of working on the biggest stage amongst players of the highest level. Van Gaal has this. He has the authority and respect of the footballing world. There's not many managers out there that can boast a history like his. Ancelotti, Guardiola and (gulp) Mourinho are probably the only ones right now that can compete.
His footballing ethos of 'total football' has been cried out for for years inside Old Trafford. Turning the Theatre of Dreams from this seasons laughing stock to next seasons fortress will be child's play for him. Being able to attract some of the biggest stars in world football won't be hard once they see what's just about to happen in Manchester. Ruling with an iron fist will put all prima donnas in there place in an instant. Fair enough some may not take to it but the ones who do will do so with great reward.
A few seasons of this and we can be back on top. Klopp, Giggs, Solskjaer will have enjoyed more experience in management / coaching and by the time LvG is ready to move on United will be set up perfectly for the next long term management team to come in.
Just my thoughts.

I think pretty much the same as you on Van Gaal. I would also add I dont want Keano any where near OT.

Apparently the Times have said that United officials are meeting Van Gaal at his home in Portugal this week.
Can't put up the full article as you have to subscribe.

Was mentioned on Talksport last night I think. Great news if true. I dont think the World Cup is a hinderance either. Just get the contract ironed out, transfer targets chosen and let the guy get on with his WC campaign. Come mid July he can walk in set up and ready to go.
