Thank fuck you are not United scouts. Shawcross? Cahill? What happened did they get a 7.5 average on a recent Football Manager season for you?

If you want a decent young centre half then we'd do worse than to go the tried and trusted route for English teams traditionally-
Scandanavia!

Giorgio Chiellini? He's strong in the air, similar to Cannavaro except he's only 25 and he's got the size.

Bar Martin Laursen, name the last good Scandinavian defender. Ronny Johnsen, Sami Hyypia, Olof Mellberg, Brede Hangeland, John Arne Riise. Not world beaters but good, solid players none-the-less. Talking of Scandinavian defenders, we're supposedly interested in that Danish defender, Simon Kjaer. 20 years old, plays for Palermo, massively promising apparently, already established in the Palermo first team and is regularly appearing for Denmark.

Hangeland is a very solid defender. And whilst Agger is nowhere near as good as the Scousers would have you believe, he's not a bad player.

Been a while since we've been linked with a defender in the tabloids isn't it? Usually its an attacker. I think its vital to have a defender that has Premier League experience so Shawcross or Cahill would suit.

Again I say it - why sign a defender when we have so much talent coming thorugh or already here. Jonny Evans and Wes Brown are solid, if Vidic and Rio cannot play. It's unusual to have both centre backs out at the same time. Plus, there are all young prospects who are looking excellent, like Jim Chester.

Don't really know much about Chester, what type of CB is he? Is he more of a Vidic type of CB, whose strong in the air and a physical force. Or is he more of a Ferdinand type?

Chester is Vidic mould, no nonsense, just gets stuck in, wins the balls, and gets rid. He can pass a bit too though. Not like Rio, Chester is never going to be a centre-back ballplayer, but solid enough playing it short to build attacks from defence. I'm a fan tbh. Very down to earth guy he seems aswell, which is always nice to see.

Would you have him back? If so what would you be willing to pay?

I do think he is better than Evans and he is a giant and can score goals. I would say about max 15mil? I think he's quality, obviously we have Smalling now so we would definitely have to get rid of Vidic for him to be in the team.

Its true that Vidic will have to leave before we get Shawcross now.
But if we leave that to one side at the moment. Would I have him back? Yes.
I think he is a great center back and personally would spend up to 20 mill on him. We broke the bank on rio and I think its money well spent shelling out on a young center back who will give you years of service.
