Blind is pure class. Not real fast, but at his young age, a football genius, and that will only get better with time. Cool as a Cucumber on the ball. Great signing for United, will stay the course and play for the club and the shirt.
Need players like that, especially with all the superstars looking for the next big ass pile of $$ to run for. Blind, Ander, Rojo, Mata, I think those are all players who will be great players for United for a long time to come.

I honestly don't see it. IMO Blind has not stepped up to this league. Maybe it's the players around him, not all his fault then, but especially today he was easily bullied off the ball, was too slow in both attack and getting back in defense, and couldn't complete a pass longer than 5 yards to save his life. I like him better as a left fullback but I think Shaw is better than he is in that position. I'd love it if Blind were the midfield puzzle piece we've been missing but I don't think he is.

Yep, I still rate him very highly. That holding Midfield position is one that take a massive amount of experience. One of the things that just makes me shake my head in disbelief is the number of people who talk about being massive United fans that constantly slag Carrick. There are not many players in the world that can do what Carrick does, seemingly without much effort. IMO DM is 80-85% football smarts.
After watching CP match the second time, and seeing how difficult things were for Blind increases my already super high level of respect of Carrick. He is like a chess master that sees 5 moves ahead of his opponents, and he is constantly using his distribution to move is teammates around and shape the attack. Carrick is in same league with Pirlo IMHO, very difficult for anyone to step in and fill those shoes
Blind lacks the experience to read the game as well as Carrick, then had a forward who runs circles and seems to constantly end up deeper than he should be playing, drawing extra defender into the passing lanes. Add to that CP was tactically concentrating on taking away that space right below the midfield line where holding mid directs traffice and it was going to be a rough day for Blind.
Blind is normally very cool on the ball, and has great feel for the game, CP got him rattled without a doubt, but I think he will take a lesson from it and continue to improve. I think he can be very good playing that position.

This might sound bananas, but I felt the same way about Cleverley when he was partnered with Scholes and was essentially studying at the feet of the Master. I hope Blind can study at Carrick's feet for a few more seasons. On current form I don't think Blind has been particularly better than Cleverley has been in his loan spell. I do think it's funny/strange that people (you, me, everyone on here) have players they favor and would give more time to regardless of form, and other players they'd ship out in a heartbeat. I don't see what you see in Blind, but you probably didn't see what I saw in Cleverley.

I think he was playing brilliantly, improving every match and that terrible injury really set him back, then Popeye the muppet came along and really fooked with the shape of the club and with Clev's confidence in a big way. Clev is playing really well right now, and I hope that continues for him (except against United)

BLIND MAKES A CASE FOR CENTRE-BACK ROLE Daley Blind has responded to the debate about his move to centre-back this season by explaining how he uses his intelligence to adapt to performing in the role.
The Dutchman started alongside Chris Smalling against Tottenham Hotspur after being used in a central defensive position during pre-season and he has appeared as part of a three-man backline before for Louis van Gaal's team. Although featuring more regularly in midfield or at left-back, he has emerged as an option in the absence of fellow left-footer Marcos Rojo, and Phil Jones. Clearly not the classic central defender in terms of his build, the Netherlands international feels he brings other qualities to the job. "I’ve said many times before that I just want to play," he told MUTV. "If you see what everyone can add to the team, then it’s a real battle for places and everyone had to fight for a position. "I got a chance on this occasion and I tried my best. Of course, people always say I don’t have the height or the power but I think I’m clever enough and smart enough." Blind managed to keep out Harry Kane, one of the most prolific marksmen in the division, thanks to help from the rest of the defence and debutant keeper Sergio Romero. "If you see our opponent today, he’s very good; he wins a lot of headers and duels in the striking position so it’s not only about power and force. I think we did well at the back, together with Chris, Luke [Shaw] and Matteo [Darmian] and we get a clean sheet so I was happy." www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2015/Aug/daley-blind-feels-he-can-adapt-to-central-defence.aspx

BLIND: MEMPHIS BELONGS AT CLUB LIKE UNITED Daley Blind believes Memphis Depay’s eccentric personality and willingness to express himself on the pitch is perfectly suited to a club like Manchester United, where maverick entertainers have historically been embraced by fans at Old Trafford.
Memphis joined the Reds earlier this summer with a reputation as one of the most exciting young players in Europe, having previously excelled for PSV Eindhoven, and the 21-year-old has quickly endeared himself to supporters following a series of all-action performances. Of course – as you will have no doubt have watched, read and heard about – our latest no.7 was simply magnificent during the Champions League victory over Club Brugge when he scored two sublime first-half goals and provided the assist for Marouane Fellaini’s header in added time, all of which helped him earn our Man-of-the-Match award on Twitter by claiming 82 per cent of votes cast. Blind first encountered Memphis when the latter made his international debut for Holland back in 2013 and, during an exclusive interview with Saturday’s official matchday programme at Old Trafford, the in-form centre-back provides a unique insight into our new signing’s character and ability. “He’s settled in very well,” Blind explains in United Review. “You can see he has a lot of talent, he’s very strong and quick and a real personality. He dares to show himself on the pitch which is very positive and he’s a really good guy who gets along with everyone. “He just needs to enjoy it as much as he can. Of course you’re focused on giving the best performance you can every day in training and in matches, but it’s important not to put yourself under too much pressure and make sure you enjoy moments, like when you play at Old Trafford. “I’m also not sure he needs my advice as he is a real personality! (Laughs) He knows what he can do and has a lot of faith in himself, and that’s a good way to be at a club like United.” United face Newcastle at Old Trafford in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday and Blind is looking forward to competing against his Dutch compatriots Tim Krul, Georginio Wijnaldum, Siem de Jong and Vurnon Anita, who have all been discussing the game ahead of kick-off. “It’s always a big game against Newcastle and I know some of the guys there who are from Holland,” says Daley. “It’s always nice to see them. I’ve talked to Siem de Jong already about the game – he is a good friend of mine and we talk a lot. I also speak to Vurnon Anita. Yes, there’s been some banter ahead of the game, but I am just focused on making sure we win it! “I’m really looking forward to the match,” Blind continues. “I watched their game last week – I see Daryl Janmaat is now suspended – but we still we have to be sharp and focused. We want to keep up the spirit and keep up the good feeling.” www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2015/Aug/Daley-Blind-United-Review-matchday-programme-preview-Newcastle.aspx#

Excellent interview. Seems to me that all United's new guys are very good with the press, Morgan hasn't had lot of press time, but the way he plays press muppets probably aren't realizing the significance of what he contributes every match. He is a freeking wall in the midfield and is a big reason why the players at the back have had time to gain confidence and settle in with each other. United have a great deal of quality at the back, and Daly is definitely a part of that.

05/09/2015 08:00, Report by Adam Marshall BLIND VALUES PARTNERSHIP WITH SMALLING Daley Blind believes his upbringing at the Ajax Academy has helped him adapt to a new position alongside Chris Smalling at the heart of Manchester United's defence.
The Netherlands international is arguably the Reds' most versatile player, the kind of multi-functional footballer so treasured by Louis van Gaal and other managers. He played at left-back in last year's World Cup finals, operated in both that role and central midfield for United during his first season and has started each game of 2015/16 so far at centre-back. Although the 25-year-old dropped back to play as part of a three-man backline last term, performing alongside Smalling has been a relatively new experience. And while the England defender's dominant displays have earned him a place on the Player of the Month shortlist, Blind has also impressed after adapting swiftly to his positional switch in the opening weeks of the campaign. The Dutchman told MUTV recently: "I try to do my best and I have the faith of the manager, which gives me a lot of confidence. It is good to play there alongside Chris Smalling. He is great next to me, he is a great player. He’s different to me, I do it my own way, but I can learn a lot from Chris." Blind also learned about playing at centre-back during his time at Ajax, his only permanent club before he joined United a year ago. "I played there in the Ajax youth team," he told MUTV. "I’m happy that Ajax's academy allowed me to play in different positions and to improve to become the player that I am now. "I am a player who can adapt fast to different positions, whether it be midfield, left-back or now centre-back. I try to look to each position and ask myself: 'What is needed for this position?' 'What do I have to do in this position?' and try to work from that. I am very happy that I can play in these positions." www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2015/Sep/daley-blind-discusses-his-centre-back-partnership-with-chris-smalling.aspx

3/09/2015 10:22, Report by Callum Matthews BLIND REFLECTS ON 'SPECIAL' GOAL V LIVERPOOL Daley Blind admits his first-ever goal at Old Trafford in Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Liverpool on Saturday provided him with a special feeling and lots of emotion.
The Netherlands international and in-form centre-back opened the scoring just three minutes into the second half when he slotted home Juan Mata’s free-kick in front of the Stretford End. The Dutchman later revealed the move was something the Reds had worked hard on at the Aon Training Complex: “It was really special for me to score my first goal at Old Trafford against Liverpool,” Blind told MUTV. “I was very happy with the goal and for the three points. “We practised this goal, and this move, a lot. Sometimes it went in and sometimes not - normally I have to take a first touch but I struck it at once which was good. I think it was a good finish. It was an incredible feeling when I saw it go in. A lot of emotions came loose and I was very happy.” The 25-year-old also made a crucial clearance off the line to deny Liverpool with the score at 1-0 and he credited returning goalkeeper David De Gea for his role in the second half incident: “It was an important moment,” Daley told us. “Just before the corner David told me something and that I needed to be there, and I was there so it was good. We laughed about it afterwards.” Blind was also happy for Anthony Martial after the French deadline day signing scored on his United debut in match that is watched by millions of fans around the world: “I’m really happy for him. He’s a big talent and we all need to be happy that he’s in our team and that he created a goal like this.” United travel to Holland to face PSV Eindhoven in the first UEFA Champions League group game on Tuesday and Blind admits he’s excited to be returning to his homeland: “Of course, but firstly I am going to enjoy the moment of this game then we work for the next game. “But it’s nice to go back to Holland and face PSV and we have to be on our best in the Champions League and try and get three points over there.” www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2015/Sep/Daley-Blind-reflects-on-goal-against-Liverpool.aspx

Well blind me Blind will ya. What a match for him, MOTM performance, a important first goal and then clearing one off the other end. We were all worried with the fragility of our starting CB's at the season start. And guess what, the pairing of Mike and Blind have worked out quite well to be honest. It was rather funny to see Otamendi sitting on City's bench as the insurance guy, but not really part of the managers plans.
Yes it's early, and I may eat my words at some point, but with Spanish Dave back, a solid defense, and some steel in front of them, well wtf can I say but Hell Yeah...

Blind seems to save his goals for when they are desperately needed. His two last season were late equalizers, and then to put us ahead against Liverpool when that game was crying out for a goal. I've definitely had my doubts about him at CB, but he continues to impress.

I've definitely had my doubts about him a CB, but he continues to impress. You make a great point, a balanced squad need super stars sprinkled in with solid footballers, and Blind fits that solid category. Guys like Blind-Morgan-Darmian and others, wrapped around players like Martial-Memphis-Mata-Herrera-Bastian-DDG, is what makes up a winning squad....
