So the thread is pretty much an "Under what circumstances should we sack Jose?" thread. I don't think some people are getting that. That's why I put the i.e. in the poll  I understood what you were asking which is why I picked the option I did but there is no way 2 people on this forum think we should sack him if we don't win the league. I think it's a hard topic, probably as you intended, as my opinion could change throughout the season. I think if we go backwards serious questions would have to be asked and that's the point I'd question his future here but as Bestie says there really aren't many viable options out there, not that would be an improvement on Mourinho anyway. |

Going backwards to me would obviously include finishing lower in the league but that's unlikely. Other than that finishing where we did in the league last season but without the trophies is what I was getting at there. Ultimately I think we'll do what I expect us to. Seriously challenge for the league. |

I hate making predictions, or having expectations,as the never bear fruit ,but my ideal season would be:
1/We win the league by a country mile-don't forget,José always win the league in his second season.
2/That the Berties get relegated for having the shittiest (and most expensive)defence in Premier League history.
3/Pep is sacked having been totally humiliated and ends up back in Spain begging on the street.
4/"I'll get me coat!"

I voted for a custom scenario. 2nd or 3rd in the league and out of the group stages in the Champions League. Retaining the League Cup is a must. I must admit I'm surprised that anyone would seriously factor in the league cup as a key expectation. I threw in the League Cup as I expect it will be the only real chance of silverware. A season without silverware will be a lost season. Even finishing 2nd or 3rd in the league is not good enough on its own merit. This squad, at this cost, should be winning titles. |

my realistic prediction for this year is 3rd, a good CL run and a trophy. I think if we don't get that then Jose has failed in his second season, but I wouldn't get rid of him as there is nobody else to sign. the football definitely has to be better this year too. last year we were so boring and predictable in games. I understand the need for a defensive game here and there but id much prefer us to go guns blazing and out score the other team and only when necessary revert to the defensive option.
I also think our starting line up is 3rd best on paper behind Chelsea and City. City have spent a fortune on full backs, but its what they need. I remember someone on here saying If city don't sort their defence out they wont win anything again.
I still think we have major weaknesses in our team

I'm hoping for the win, but I'd be happy with 3rd in the league and a much improved chance conversion rate. Deep runs in all cups would be a bonus, but I'm more concerned with the league.

Agree with most here that regardless of what happens Jose shouldn't be sacked, we can't keep replacing managers every 1-2 years.
I think that we could definitely win the title this season if we have some luck with injuries and 2-3 players step up and provide more goals than would otherwise be expected of them. That being said, after the last few seasons it'll just be nice to actually be relevant in the title race this season.
Another important thing for me is how well our promising youngsters develop throughout the year. Finishing 4th but seeing the likes of Shaw, Marital, Periera, Rashford and TFM get regular game time and actually make the most of it would make the season feel a lot better.

Fuck finishing 4th 3rd or second and being happy with it. With the money we have spent and the squad and manager we have we need to be winning the lg, jose shouldnt be sacked unless we finish 10th or something and he has a melt down, but every season we dont win the lg is a failure to me.
The lg is the bread and butter and we should be winning it

Minimum expecation should be top 4. We will struggle to get in there but I think we might finish 3rd.
