That just reminded me of something I heard several times throughout the game... "If Pep had these players then we'd win hte league" .... It's literally like no one had factored in the money City have spend over the last 5/6/7 years. City have been planning for years while we were collecting tractor partners. Even Ollie Holt (yes that insufferable t**t) said that a lot of the responsibility lies with them on Twitter tonight and he's no United fan. Fergie covered their arses for years. I hope if and when Jose does go he is brutal with our owners. At least when his silence clause expires anyway. How much more £ does Mourinho need to field a motivated side? How is Mourinho earning his £15M per season by fielding the same tired team in the same tired system and expecting different results? I know the squad needs to play harder and actually move when they do not have the ball, however, the idea that ramming the ball down the wings and swinging in crosses to a congested box is not good enough. That sort of play is dictated from the manager and it is not working. That said - how in the hell do Pogba and Matic keep finding themselves as the last man on defense? When did it become a crime to let the CB actually leave the middle of the pitch and defend? I think the word we used most around here is jaded. The squad looks jaded. |

Jose spent £90 million on Lukaku. It looked some desperate shit since Morata was our target for longer, but could Jose really have wanted a big lump with a poor first touch to lead the line? Did he think Ibra was coming back 6 months early to become the focal point of the attack again?
Matic has been a vast improvement.
Why Mkhitaryan has been shit is another mystery. Tearing up the Bundesliga and plays like a lost lamb in the Prem.
Bailly, Lindelof, and Pogba are improvements. Factor in Herrera's regression under JM and that takes some of the sparkle off Matic and Pogba. Pogba should not be captain.
I think Lukaku was a mistake and we need an actual finisher, not a big target man. We also need an actual #10, not Lingard. An actual right wing would be good too.
But we should have beaten our last 3 opponents. Jose is setting us up wrong and managing the game wrong.

I think the biggest concern should be not having any rhtym or style, after a year and a half we should have that regardless of who isn’t playing it should be In place by now.
Once gain this isn’t a money thing, there are enough players there for us to be doing better, somethings wrong that’s for sure and everyone is playing a role in this horror show

Apart from Fellaini and Rojo I can’t think of one single player that Moyes or LVG signed that didn’t have a majority approval amongst fans at the time of the transfer, and yet so many here are presenting these players as shitty squad players that Jose is stuck with. It’s really easy pointing fingers when you already have the answer, but clearly the bigger issue is that 3 different managers had 3 different plans and the club had no master plan to make sure that all that was required between these 3 managers were just small twists and adjustments.

With regards to Lukaku, yes he probably wasn't first choice, but he has still shown signs of the kind of goalscorer we needed, and if our supply lines were performing as they did in the early season he would have more goals to his name. Factor in the kind of confidence drain you see in strikers and it all adds up to the Lukaku we see on the pitch now. I would still be happier to have someone who can make things happen by himself but I've still got a certain amount of belief we can see the best of him in the future. Those supply lines are the bigger worry for me. Too many players are seemingly forgetting the simple stuff. Crosses are generally garbage, even short passes to each other in the midfield look beyond some of them. That is on the players though. If they can't beat the first man when trying to cross into the box, or find the teammate who is standing 5 yards away with a short pass then Mourinho can do little to effect it other than to remove the player. |

It makes you wonder what's happening on the training pitch from the constant relying on getting the ball wide then putting in a poor cross only for our forwards not wanting to gamble for a ball and try and anticipate where it might land to the same mistakes happening over and over again.
Ronaldo had to be taken off the training pitch because he wanted to be perfect and stayed out hours after the other players had gone, how about Lukaku working on his first touch and finishing for a few hours a week or is he too tired? the same goes for Rashford he looks miserable and can't be arsed half the time.
It's a joke watching this crap week in week out now.
What about these free kicks like last night when Mata steps over the ball then a good 3 seconds later Young takes it! who do they think they are trying to fool with that old chestnut? pafuckingthetic

Zlat is finished now he scored plenty of goals last season but we shouodnt of signed him back after his injury.

Money isn’t the difference here though, Pep is operating at a far higher level than Mourinho currently is. Both clubs have spent a fuck load of money, and whilst they’ve spent considerably more, we do need to take into consideration they’ve had a massive gap to bridge. As mentioned already in this thread, a lot of this comes down to how the clubs are ran and their long term vision. Our owners are parasites headed up by a clueless chump. Managerial appointments and recruitment has been diabolical, there’s been barely any investment in the club itself (e.g. OT), and everything we is do based around whether it’ll improve the fucking commercial side of the business. That’s only a few of issues - compare that to City and it’s literally like chalk and cheese. They’ve put the investment in, the hiring of Begiristain, the development of the youth setup, the appointment of Pep etc, it’s all part of a long term plan that’s been put in place and executed very well. Whilst I do think we have issues with Mourinho, they are always going to be very minor in comparison to the much larger ones that the fuckwits in charge cause. |

It feels like the majority of people here are actually on the same page. Something along the lines of:
- the gimps are the main problem (obviously)...
- ...but the players need to start taking responsibility more too.
- We support Jose for the forseeable future, but he looks a lot more like ‘third season at Real depressed, angry and miles off the pace Jose’ than the ‘second season at Chelsea and tactical genius that always finds a way to win without excuses Jose’, and that needs to change.
