Whenever I watched him (and I remember talking to you during those times) he was either wide or very advanced, CAM, almost a second striker. Not sure where this idea of him being some sort of deep playmaker has come from. Think he played CAM more at Granada. More often than not when I saw him at Valencia he was out wide. Either way I think it's clear he has to be used as an attacking player.
I think he conned people into thinking he can do a proper job defensively because of how much he got stuck in and grafted at Granada but that's because he had to.
He's never in any way looked a deep lying midfielder. His main attributes are his dribbling and a usually wonderful right foot.
Well there in lies the rub. He will never play a regular role in an attacking position at this club. Not ahead of Pogba , Lingard, Martial, Rashford, Mata and even Lukaku for that matter. To be honest, he isn't a winger in my eyes. For this league, a stand out attribute is important for a winger. For me , his strength was supposed to be vision, composure and passing - all 3 of which were abysmal yesterday. While I do agree that consistent playing time is required , it's hard to get that at a club like this while we have more established players. You have to be ready to put in a performance when called upon. He's never put in one , whenever called upon. That's the sad truth.

It will be hard to break through, I accept that but it's the comments suggesting he's not that good anyway. He's looked excellent at every level in his career so far. Reserves and then in his 2 loan spells he looked like a player who was good enough to be in our squad.
Hell I'm a big fan of Lingard but I even remember having a conversation with other people who all agreed that Pereira was superior to Lingard in almost every way talent wise and that they'd stick him in the squad ahead of him. Now look at Lingard.
I do agree that sooner or later he'll have to take the rare chances he gets though but mentioning Lingard again, if you look at the way he's blossomed over the last 12/18 months, you see what can happen to a player.

Jesus! we drew and are 9 games unbeaten after getting rid of the miserable one. Wouldn't know it today. #ole out #poch in I think people are annoyed about the dropped points but even more so about the shite perfromences from some. Of the players last night especially the ones who come in I Still don't get the Poch love in? he came third in a two horse race for the title with Leicester. His team bottle's it, every time they have any pressure? Why would he be good for the most pressurized job in world football bar Real Madrid?? His team plays good football but got beat by Ole on and off the pitch? He is just a levy yes man,who will be a glazer yes man. Prepare for no value in the market. Jardim has done the same but won stuff, Zidane has won stuff? I don't see what Poch has that puts him at the top of the list other than he doesn't spend alot??

I don't know what it is about Lingard, but his chemistry with Pogba, Rashford and Martial just works. He isn't the most technically gifted and there are games when he is atrocious as well. But when it works, it just works. I think it's because he dabs so much. He too, needs to be upgraded with a better player though, no doubt. I don't know when Pereira will get his next chance. But it may not be any time soon . Even with losing the ball 14 times, if he hadn't given away the goal, it'd look better for him. But now, I'm not sure.

Pereirira is not going to make it as a CM in the PL. The lad is too slight and entirely too nervous. The sooner he is played as the Lingard back up the better.
As has been noted, yesterdays match should have helped Fred as much as it hurt Pereirira.

Lookaku needs to start from the bench, we seem to be slower when he starts, Perierira hasn't done himself any favours but cant put too much blame on the lad, we had our own chances to put the game to bed well before the mistake. Thought we played much better when Lindgard came on. Lindlov picked a good time to score his first for us as well. Frustrating game on the whole but managed to pull it back in typical fashion. I don't know why, but this just cracked me up. Might have something to do with the exchanges here about spelling players' names right.
Spot on

Well, it's a fact of life that Fellaini while showing plenty of endeavour for us (as Stewart alluded to), was never good enough for us in the first place.
Also, I'm finding it hard to believe that Pereira's outstanding ability is in question? Okay, bad error last night but he has talent coming out of his ears.
Don't even know why these points were even being debated initially a few pages back!

The more I look at Rashford's miss, the more angered I get. I don't know what he was trying to do. The keeper has already gone down even before he has attempted to shoot ! Just bloody thump it in the net !!
Argh. Simple things.

Not having that. He has options to pass it back to Jones, or straight to De Gea. He tried a trick, tripped over himself. Instead if he looks for a man, I am quite sure he finds a couple. That's a proper brainfart. Edit: Yup, he's also got Matic in space on his right side. No excuses. He's got to take his lumps on this one.
