Chelsea had loads of chances. They should have been two or three up in the first half. Come on. Also I love Maguire and he's worth every overpaid penny if it means he and Lindelof are the first choice with Axel as first backup. I think the 2nd half is more reflective of how we will play. 1st half we seemed nervous and lacked urgency. Hoping you are right...

Granted, I only saw the highlights but IMO, we were very lucky in the first half... They could / should have had at least 2 goals and if that first one fromAbrahams had gone in, it would likely have changed the complexion of the game... Having said that, we took our chances well and looked devastating on the counter attack...shades of the days of Kanchelskis... I am hoping that Pereira and McT can step it up a little and Pogba gets more involved without doing the silly tricks where he loses the ball... If we can improve the midfield, we could have a very decent season... We've signed this tidy little Brazilian midfield dynamo, name of Fred. Can't wait to see him in action for us... The highlights were probably deceiving. The first half looked frantic and sloppy with a lot of cheap turnovers and a lot of errant passing from both sides. Chelsea's best two moves saw them hit the woodwork, but it's not like the posts moved: those shots were off target. Had those 2 shots gone in it would have been fair, but at the tail end of last season if we'd had 2 goals out of nothing we would have something something something. There wasn't a lot between the sides at half time except for Rashford's penalty. Anyone miss Pogba's 12,000 step run ups? Anyone? Second half the nerves settled and we took over.

watched the full game last night and i have to say first half we weren`t as bad as i thought we were only judging from the highlights. first 15-20mins belonged to chelsea until we scored, after that it was a bit nervy and stuff but not like they outplayed us. second half we were really clinical and after the second and third goal we played very assured. defence looked very good. wasnt maguire`s biggest fan and wanted other targets but he showed some huge personality throughout the game, organizing the defence and dominating, it was 90mins from him stepping up as the leader in the back we were all crying for the last couple of years, lets hope he keeps it going. AWB was just pure class, such a fucking joy watching him tackling and defending. with that new defence we got you can clearly see that shaw might be our weakest link in the back 4. not weak in the sense of a need to replace him but all the others look very solid compared to him. shaw might really benefit from some competition, just as AWB, dalot and possibly young are available on the right side, he needs someone to push him and challenge him throughout the season.
attack was brilliant, martial finally getting his striker role. pogba wasnt great but still had 2 assists, cant really complain. mctominay was a beast in the second half, glad to see him make a statement. the midfield 3 still looks like a huge problem. take pogba out and we`re fucked. need to find a way to overcome this problem during the season.
what pleased me most though was the way we played out from the back. maguire, dave, lindelöf were so calm, passing the ball around even during moments of pressing from chelsea. mctominay also was very calm while trying to pass the ball around the chelsea attackers. we will make mistakes and concede goals from those situations, thats a given, someone will fuck up at some point. but its so refreshing to not see our back 4 panicking and instead trying to play through tight situations. also you could clearly see the whole team is much much fitter than in the past few seasons, that looks like a new level of fitness and work rate.
lovely win, really buzzing and trying to not get overconfident. 3 points at wolves would be massive, dont expect a 3 or 4 goal win, just 3 points. 6 points out of those two difficult games and it really spreads the positive feeling even more.

Here's a little AWB video of him against Chelski... Great debut. Thought he was left isolated a few times on the right. He needs some support from our attackers there. At one point Lingard is floating around the Chelsea box while AWB is taking on two players.

I think this is the second or third time she’s done it, so might not necessarily be what you’re suggesting. She’ll be back I’d imagine.
