I’m trying not to be to negative as it was the first game back but it’s hard to ignore certain issues because they have been there now for a while. Ole has had 3 months to have a think and yet still we are starting that game with a 4-3-2-1 which just isn’t effective vs teams that are sitting behind the ball. Not to mention little things like Mctominay and Fred coming short all the time with Wan Bissaka and Shaw not pushing on means we start every attack with at least 7 players behind the ball. Just seems like such a basic thing to address and yet we plough on. I don’t want to pile on but the purchase of Bruno and an unbeaten run of a few games seems to have blinded a lot of our supporters to the fact we are a million miles off being a top club again. I keep hearing that ‘we’re building something here’ but what is it really? It still looks like our style of play is sort of whatever happens on the day and after almost a season and a half is that good enough? What are we as a team? Possession? Hitting teams on the break? I have no idea. Neither do you. But most damaging, it seems our management doesn’t either. |

That's normal for Martial, but god help you if you suggest getting rid of him. 1 good goal/game and the previous 9 shit games get ignored. He has the potential but not the desire. But its always the manager that is to blame. Martial's potential is something we are all waiting to be realised. Something tells me it won't. Jose was right about him. I miss Jose. |

Why did Matic not start?
Was he not part of a decent few months before lockdown happened?
James is nothing more than a runner. At least he was cheap.
The difference when Pogba came on. Not sure why it took so long to make the subs again.
I’d also replace Shaw .

Because he played in a world cup semi and got player of the year at Sheff Utd and Hull. Come on, can you not remember? There were enough on here who deemed the above to be sufficient to proclaim him a wonder signing. This feels a bit revisionist. I don't recall very many people saying that. The two camps seemed to be: a) He's not worth £80m but he will improve us so if that's who Ole wants get it done b) He's not worth £80m and he's not even much better than what we already have so forget it, even if he is Ole's pick |

McTominay Fred had poor game but he’s been the better player for the last few months. |

I think the teams get a bit of a pass in regards to the first game back. Some of the good sides in Germany struggled for fluency first time out (though still won). I thought we were decent for parts of the 2nd half. However, there needs to be a significant improvement for Wednesday night. Sheffield Utd are very well drilled side (you could argue far better drilled than we are given the resources) so our A game is needed. I would start Pogba and Greenwood and would be very tempted to bring in Bailly and Williams. And I’d tell Martial to move his arse or Ighalo gets on at half time.

Intrigued as to what our crowd noise will be like if the club provide them.
They were better than watching it with nothing but that's not saying much really.
