I am excited. Tht excitement might evaporate if the football's shite and the lack of fans is as bad as it has been for other games. But right now I'm just happy to look forward to a game again, to be able to think about it all again. Definitely helps that we still have a lot to play for, especially if the Europa does continue.

I hate myself because I really don’t think it should be coming back at the moment but I am excited for its return. I think the main reason is there’s a generally positive feeling around the team. Playing well before the break and now got some big players back fit including a SUPPOSEDLY committed Pogba.
The excitement will soon disappear if we’re shite though.

I genuinely dislike being negative but I really haven't missed football on TV. All the various fluff and false pomp forced on by (particularly) Sky to make it seem like we should be happy to be getting utterly fleeced at the same time as they treat match going supporters as an inconvenience. It has been so transparent that the only reason they're so desperate to get football restarted is money (and Liverpool winning the title).
It just sickens me they're getting rewarded for this. We're all so desperate to get the sport we love back we're putting up with getting fucked with our trousers on.
I just can't get excited about this zombie version of football. Not sure I'm going to bother watching.
Sorry again. Truly not trying to be a downer.

Jones somehow manages to get himself injured in lockdown and is out. No surprise there.
Unfortunately Alex is out too. He’s a very good player but his injuries are beginning to become an issue. It’s going to be very hard for him to progress if he can’t play.

I’m gonna excited, mostly as I’ve struggled to have any structure to my weekends. So this will help a lot.
But it’s just shit, isn’t it? No fans in the stadium. Piped in crowd noise. Players allowed to have their own theme music if they score. In the bin. All of it.

theathletic.co.uk/1875925/2020/06/17/cox-solskjaer-three-back-try-james-wing-back/This is a good article for anyone who has the subscription. We all know the preamble about how we're good vs. good teams and shit vs. shite, but the tactical parts later on are well worth a read IMO, even if you don't agree. Basically, he suggests we should try 3 at the back more given its success against the bigger sides. He suggests Shaw, Maguire, AWB as a 3, with Williams and James as the wing backs. If needed, it could easily switch to a 4-2-3-1 mid-game when James goes forward and AWB shuttles over. Think it'd look something like this: Rashford - Martial Fernandes Williams - McTominay - Fred - James Shaw - Maguire - AWB DDG
The big question is where Pogba goes, and he has no answer there, but that question remains the same regardless of 3 or 4 at the back. Perhaps for games vs. lower teams he could be one of the two behind Fernandes. Personally I'd also like to see more of the 4-3-1-2 like below, with the strikers starting wider and cutting in, something Ole has played with before. Almost a shame we have so much to play for so no time for experimentation! Rashford --------- Martial Fernandes Pogba - Fred - McTominay Williams - Maguire - Lindelof - AWB DDG

True. People sometimes forget just how good Jones was at a young age but injuries robbed him the chance of reaching his potential.

If injuries hadn't have plagued Jones he'd have been awesome for us at the back, its unfortunate really.
As for the football coming back its a 2 sided coin. On one side I'm not bothered at all as its shit without fans and the speaker noises are a bit cringe.
On the other side I'm glad its back to just to sense a bit of normality again. I've missed the football, especially as before it was stopped we were playing some decent football aswell. I'll watch us out of loyalty but can't see me sitting through all of the rest.
