Subbing VdB on with 4 minutes to go was nonsense, but it’s way too early to be moaning. The players still aren’t really match fit yet.
If it’s like this after Christmas then come back and it’ll be a fair comment.

If Donny doesn't start getting some serious game time, I would not blame him at all for trying to get away...
I think that he has been treated disgracefully...

It’s particularly galling considering Pogba can’t wait to get out of the place fast enough.

It’s particularly galling considering Pogba can’t wait to get out of the place fast enough. It's ironic that we lost Pogba due to playing Scholes, even though we knew he wasn't going to be with the club for much longer. And now we are doing the same to Donny for the Pogba, who we know wont be with the club much longer. Do we ever learn?

It’s particularly galling considering Pogba can’t wait to get out of the place fast enough. That's the thing that annoys me the most about it. If Pogba was playing really well and on the verge of a new contract I might think differently. I'm pretty sure his agent will be at Ed balls in the summer looking a move. If he stays, fair play to him but he has not been given a fair crack at the club considering just how bloody inconsistent some of our midfielders have been this season.

The 3 min v City was totally inexcusable, and if he doesn’t start against Watford then I really don’t know, but, in the interests of fairness; would you rather Ole handled VdB like Lampard has Werner/Ziyech? He played them from the start, had some early success which faded and now they’re completely bereft of confidence. I think there are merits in bringing him along slowly, (perhaps not this slowly) but time will tell.

I think there are merits in bringing him along slowly, (perhaps not this slowly) but time will tell. Werner hasn't really had a spell in the team yet where he's done consistently well, yet Lampard wanted the player and he's determined to make him part of his plans. He believes he will come good. I don't get that feeling with Donny and Ole. We have spent 40m on a player who can't get a game, that's a pretty expensive cameo sub. As a supporter, I am perplexed about why he can't get a game. Is it positional, because he prefers to play in the same position as Bruno?, I find it mysterious. He's willing to play Pogba anywhere in midfield despite his form and desire to leave the club but he's not willing to play Donny centrally or wider of a 3 man midfield. I also think Ole has convinced himself that there's only one first team he can rely upon right now and that's pretty evident by the lack of squad rotation, which will ultimately come back to bite us as the season progresses.

Werner is a shadow of the player he was last season and has come out and admitted the PL is much more difficult than he imagined. Since Lampard is under pressure to deliver results, he keeps throwing Werner out there to get his ass kicked. People assume that Ole never wanted VdB because he’s not getting enough minutes, but that doesn’t have to be true. Ole could be bringing him along (probably much too) cautiously, especially given VdS’s pleas for patience. I’d rather he took this approach than the one that’s probably going to turn Werner into De Bruyne MK II. EDIT: Our ‘support’ has also been known to turn on its young/new players of late so Ole could be protecting him from that as well.

While it is frustrating to see DVB left out, he may have a point , fabinho also had a slow start under Klopp
