I think Jose's decline also has to do with the mentality of current players. He looks more comfortable with those tough ones like Zlatan and Terry , unfortunately modern players respond more to the arm around shoulder treatment, Luke shaw being the latest example.
The thing is his teams can play good football. Even his last chelsea team where he won the league played some superb football with costa , fabrigas , hazard etc, but in the second half of that season he stopped attacking games and started grinding out 1-0 wins. really top class players of these days wont be happy with that kind of approach for long.

The comeback impressed me, once we had our foot on the their throats (no offence meant in anyway) we didn’t let up and we kept at them. Pogba when he wants just doesn’t get knocked off the ball, Mason hitting form, Cavani movement, Henderson standing tall in goal. Welldone lads, keep at it Yep, Henderson is making that position his own at the moment, coming out collecting crosses, sweeping up behind his defence etc. Had another good game today

As someone has said already I think Jose's problems stem from him not being able to roll with the times, players are not like they used to be, he can't keep using the same mind games with them and expect the same results.... After spurs I think he may struggle for a top job, maybe he'll be better at a lesser team again and do better than could be expected with them, ala Porto Yep, modern football seems to have almost overtaken him, although Bielsa seems to be able to adapt, not sure how,or if José wants to keep going with another league club somewhere, or maybe look to manage his national side. That being said, if I were José, and given has brilliant record,I would probably retire, although I’m pretty sure that’s not in his nature!

Great result.
VAR continues to just be a complete joke. Mourinho continues to be a twat.
Great to see Cavani channeling his inner Keith Houchen (anyone over 40 knows what I mean. Anyone younger might have to Google it). Fuck I love a diving header.
City have ran away with it of course, but it would be nice to at least narrow the gap to single digits and make them sweat just a small, tiny amount. Their run in is easy as though, Chelsea might give them a scare, possibly Everton as well, but other than that, Villa (without Grealish), Brighton, Newcastle, and Palace are points in the bank for them.

Jose should have taken the Portugal job before Ronaldo retires.

Fred was excellent for his goal. Scored when many would have hit the defender or goalkeeper, but he made the vital pass to Cavani and an important one to Bruno before that too.

Difficult not to feel sorry for Jose. He's always had a dark side but that used to be balanced by his charm and ability to inspire loyalty and his self belief and of course it helped that as a serial winner it didn't matter so much that he was a terrible loser and he was good at finding greener pastures after things started to go wrong and getting back to winning ways.
But he's become his own worst enemy with his paranoia and need for control and negativity and has been on a steady decline ever since Real Madrid.

Jose should have taken the Portugal job before Ronaldo retires. Agreed, but he said before he wants it to be his last job before he retires. He'd be perfect for international football still, and they arguably have the best striker, midfielder and defender in Europe in Ronaldo, Fernandes and Dias. Given the paucity of managerial talent in international football, he could easily take that side to a World Cup.

And frankly, glad we fucked him off when we did. Ole has his many faults, a lot of them stemming from him just being happy to be our manager, but I’d rather Ole’s happy go lucky than Jose’s misanthropic self-righteousness.

I'm seeing an awful lot of criticism of Son in this thread. (I'm reading the game on 45 minute delay.) Think it's unfair. He didn't dive, Scotty did catch him in the face and looked to be right on his nose. I disagree that it's a foul and Cavani's brilliant goal should have stood. But can we lay off calling Son a 'cheating cunt' or whatever other rubbish I've seen please? Bit of sense. Mate. Maate. Maaate! He cheated. Plain and simple. He’s a soft cunt and seeing him on tears in his own clubs channel post-match is content I live for!

The 2nd half had everything you want to see from a United side that is one goal down. Brilliant result.
Son going down so easily to get our goal disallowed was a complete joke. I would feel very awkward if one of our players did that. It was simply inexcusable and shows us again how weak VAR is and the poor direction the game is heading.
Lastly, I am torn regarding Jose. It’s always a bit sad to see someone who was at this peak a force of nature decline so badly. I can’t imagine what an insult it’ll be for Jose to be sacked by Spurs, it’s madness when you think about it. At the same time, I don’t think he never evolved as a manager, and unfortunately, what worked in 2004 is irrelevant in 2021.
