I’m still seething about this result. I’m not actually sure when I’ll stop seething about it. Not before the next trophy is won I reckon, not fully anyway.

I’m still seething about this result. I’m not actually sure when I’ll stop seething about it. I have a degree of simmering fury, however the dominant sentiment is very much perverse grim satisfaction. Ole failed again. The club failed again. There is no gloss, no papering over cracks. That is more important than second rate trophies we shouldn't be in in the first place.

Post match comments were quite telling with Ole basically giving away his game plan and general approach to management.
"You've got players of high quality there, and we started with loads of goal scorers, match-winners, and hoped it would give us the upper hand"
And of course his excuse was the players didn't turn up, we didn't create enough chances, we are close, but need a few more players etc etc.
And this was the only competition where we had the best team by some distance and he still couldn't win it. The Glazers will never spend enough to give him the margin of superiority he needs over the competition to win the CL or EPL let alone the domestic cups.
Honestly I'm glad we didn't win it because with that kind of approach we didn't deserve to. Villareal deserved it because they actually had a tactical game plan and played as a team and defended well instead of just showing up and hoping that star players would win them the game like we did.
We won't win any trophies under Ole (this was by far our best chance) and eventually that will count for something. Maybe not with the Glazers. But surely at some point with the players and the fans.

Any gimp who watched the UEFA Cup final and still dies on the hill of progress can be summarily ignored at this point. We'll always have top red tossers who care more about being seen to support individuals rather than do what is ultimately best for the club.

I’m still seething about this result. I’m not actually sure when I’ll stop seething about it. A small part of me is so angry and depressed about it that I'm thinking its inevitable City eventually win the European cup and that I may as well get it out of the way now while I'm so bitter anyway. Very small part of me mind.

I’m still seething about this result. I’m not actually sure when I’ll stop seething about it. There is no worse feeling than lose a final, as the team was this close to a trophy without being able to touch it. Thats why I perfer my teams to go out in the semi at the latest if they are not going to win it. But for how long it should affect one is feelings, well i think thats an invidual thing. I personally try not let out comes of game affect me longer than maybe for the rest of the day they are played and maybe the following day depending on how the game was.

It feels more like UEFA Super League to me if anything and whats wrong with modern football two teams only where they are because of oil money. Yet its crazy stat that since 1984, when Liverpool won their fourth, no club bar United won their domestic league in the season before, When United won in 2008, all other English winners failed to win EPL in the previous season.
