The 2018 thread is here. The top prediction was first; we finished sixth. No one clicked sixth in the poll, though points to Chris for saying '6th, 7th, 8th... no chance of top 4.' The 2019 thread is here. The joint top predictions were fifth and below eighth; we finished third. Six people clicked third in the poll, with GeniusCantona , Pixel , RAZ and Ole's Red Whiteknight03 Army all getting full marks for mentioning third in their posts. Chris didn't replicate his previous correct call, though he wasn't far off saying that we could get 4th if we had a couple of good signings after Maguire came in. (The back four pages of the 2019 thread are particularly dispiriting - genuine talk of a bottom half finish around October time.) The 2020 thread is here. The top prediction was seventh; we finished second, which only one anonymous person voted for. Kudos to Diablo Rouge for going for third amongst a sea of predictions we'd finish outside the top four. The 2021 thread is here. The top prediction was second; we finished sixth, which only one anonymous person voted for. kstandhand and Karma get points for being the most negative with their 'struggle for top four' predictions.

I've gone fifth. I think City, Liverpool and Chelsea remain comfortably better than us. I see a battle for fourth between us and Spurs, but Spurs have had a more impactful summer, have had longer with their new manager, and have a couple of world class players in Kane and Son which as things stand we're struggling to match.
Hopefully Ten Hag shows a lot of promise even if we end fifth and we can be more positive going forward. Winning Europa would be a fantastic way to do that.

6th, but as always, it depends what we can do for the remainder of the market. We could easily finish 7th or 5th as well.

I’m going for 5th unless we get 3 more in.

With the squad as it is, anything between 5th and 7th. I’ve gone for 7th because I learned that there’s no room for optimism with United these days.

Unless we get some alternatives to Mcfred and the walking fridge, I cannot see us improving on last season TBH. We definitely need to stop shipping goals. 0 GD is totally unacceptable. And those two areas alone contributed massively to that shameful stat. I'd love for us to get the FA cup once more and seeing as we are in the competition, go for winning the euro thing too.

6th or 7th ,unless ETH gets (at least) a couple more players in. He’s really got his work cut out for him that’s for sure , and I don’t envy the poor bugger one bit. I’d be most interested to see what he’s going to do when he’s finally had enough of Cap’n Slab & McFred.

12th, playing beautiful football but squad decimated by injury by the end of September and never recovers.

I think the 2 essential elements for us to make top 4 are
a) A world class midfielder (i.e. Frenkie) b) A proven experienced goalscorer (i.e. Ronaldo staying and having 100% commitment)
Of course we would still have some issues e.g. Maguire/Dalot weak links in defence, no CDM and Fred or Scotty playing alongside Frenkie, not that many great options off the bench etc. But so do Chelsea/Tottenham/Arsenal and you don't need a perfect team to make top 4.
I think with no Frenkie and Ronaldo either not committed or leaving with either no replacement or an inexperienced replacement and we will have real issues.

The optimist in me says we'll squeak into 4th. Fuck knows why, I've had the optimism well and truly kicked out of me in recent years, and the club have given me absolutely no reason to be optimistic this summer. But my gut says 4th.

Think we will finish behind arsenal in 6th. Think their squad and transfers have been better so far. And they look to be more of a complete team with an extra year with their manager

5th currently in the lead. Worth noting that, in the four previous seasons we've done this, our collective wisdom has been wrong every time - whenever we've predicted we get top 4 we haven't, and whenever we've predicted we'd be outside it we've gotten it!

We didn’t have Conte, Tuchel, Guardiola and Klopp in the league all at once, spending money to actually make their teams competitive either. We also didn’t have what is arguably the worst United squad I have seen in the past two decades.
