Ronaldo spent the entire summer openly trying to leave the club. He only stayed because there were literally zero takers. And what, he’s the victim of a witch hunt? Please. The other night was a culmination of his clear desire to get the fuck out of Utd. It wasn’t a ‘mistake’, it was him using his final card to force an exit. Which he will hopefully now get. That’s not what Roy Keane said on Sky Sports, he said the club refused.

come on bestie, you know this ain't right. He knows better and should not have done what he did Ronaldo should not have done it. I do understand why he did, but he still should not have done it. However, it's basically irrelevant to the hysterical hypocritical knicker-twisting I am seeing from some people about how dreadful Ronaldo is. That is my issue. fair enough but let's be honest if you can get his frustration then you could see why some people out of frustration are hacked off. The performance was a good one and that's all that should have been discussed the following day, not him walking down and tunnel and leaving and definitely not him refusing to come on. All we hear is how professional he is, how well he trains etc, he has to maintain that legacy as the ultimate professional. I fully get that in his last years his mentality is simply gonna be 'break all records, ensure the figures show I was the best' but he has to accept his reality right now is he is at Manchester United and unfortunately the club is not positioned right now to support his record breaking dreams and the manager does not feel he is best placed to support what he wants to achieve. Hard pill to swallow, anyone expecting otherwise is crazy. The one person he should be massively ticked off with is his agent, he simply failed to do what he advised he could do in the summer (He can also throw Tuchel in there too).

I don't care about individual results anymore. They're nice and everything but unless they lead to us actually winning something we have been on this roundabout before. It's been a decade since we won the League FFS. If these discussions about Ronaldo stave off yet more overblown false positivity while ultimately we have achieved nothing then brilliant. I appreciate it's going to be boring/exasperating for some people but you are correct we need to be realistic. We need to be demanding the highest standards. Not more 'progress' bullshit.

Not more 'progress' bullshit.I think we have the man for it. I am hoping the people in charge have their cheque books out for January, it's needed. If nothing spent, I'll be the first person blowing up the internet saying Murtough should be sacked. Infact i think the inept sales in the summer should have been a sackable offence in any case

I’m sorry but I believe Roy Keane everyday over those hacks. And who do you believe between Fergie and Keane? Because there were two vastly different versions of how they fell out.

I’m sorry but I believe Roy Keane everyday over those hacks. And who do you believe between Fergie and Keane? Because there were two vastly different versions of how they fell out. Wonder if people would be agreeing with Keano if he'd said the same about McTominay or Rashford (they wouldn't). There seems to be a lot of excuses made simply because of the player its related to. Noticed there's still no clubs mentioned above instead it's deflection because there is nothing to back the argument up. Player fucks up, correct consequences, the end. Same will apply to the rest. The manager is putting his stamp on this player power at the club and I'm all for it.

It is pretty obvious the Glazers priced Ronaldo out of a move. They decided they would rather keep an unhappy player (especially one who boosts their commercial revenues) than cough up for a replacement. Ronaldo scored over 20 goals last season so he isn't to blame for us failing to qualify for the Champions League and having to take a pay cut as a result.
Erik hasn't exactly gone out of his way to integrate Ronaldo into the team and obviously there is a bit of bad blood and not bringing him on against Manchester City and hauling him off against Newcastle or bringing him on against Tottenham would have inflamed the situation. It is quite obvious that Ronaldo was never going to accept a bit part role. And he is now even unhappier than he was in the summer and that is going to make it very difficult for him to recover his form. That means we are reliant on Rashford as our CF and if Rashford continues to be wasteful in front of goal or worse has a slump in form then our top 4 chances will evaporate quickly.
The World Cup is a blessing. It gives Ronaldo a break and a chance to rediscover his scoring form and get match fit. After the World Cup there will be lots of games so Erik should be able to give Ronaldo a lot more minutes and a proper chance at winning back his place in the team. And really we need his goals if we are to have a chance of making top 4.
But the problem is between then and now the situation is likely to deteriorate and there might be no way back.

Kindly detail the offers Ronaldo had in the summer. Go ask Keano. Either give me his number or don’t keep parroting the same dull riposte each time. There were no offers. If Keane knows something he can spill it or shut it. He’s never given a fuck about anything before so go on then Keano tell us what offers he had. I’ll wait.

Do you blame ETH though? Your man refused to join the team on pre-season and then again went missing until a week or two before the start of the season.
I think thus far ETH has shown a lot of patience with Ronaldo and has handled him very gracefully with the media.
I'm fully behind the gaffer here even more so if we can start being dominant again against teams like we did with Spurs. Definitely heading in the right direction and all this circus around Ronaldo can easily derail it.
Ronaldo does what he does for himself. He signed a contract, he needs to honor it but well we all remembered the last time he had a contract here ...

We are headed in the right direction but we didn't sign a recognized CF in the summer. Martial cannot stay fit and Rashford can't finish so re-integrating Ronaldo into the squad was important. Ronaldo hasn't made it at all easy but Erik hasn't really gone out of his way to back Ronaldo or give him the minutes he needed to get up to speed.
Take a look at the Premier League top scorers table. Rashford and Antony are 16th highest scorers on 3 goals. In 10 games! Ronaldo hasn't had a great start to the season but he was 3rd top scorer in the league last year and has scored 700 club goals.
If Erik feels he can do without Ronaldo's goals and prefers the team contribution of Rashford and Martial (no matter that he can't stay fit) that is his call and as manager we need to back him. And really the owners need to be fair to Ronaldo and help him engineer a January exit. But if lack of goals is the reason we don't qualify for the CL next season then freezing out Ronaldo will be a costly mistake.
