Since the Brentford massacre, 10 league games. 7 wins, 2 draws (Chelsea, Newcastle), 1 defeat (City). And yet people still try to find things to moan about. We've made huge improvements a lot quicker than expected, especially with the defence. Last season if we sat back like we did today we'd have dropped at least 2 points. There's a togetherness about this squad at the moment that is great to see and hasnt been seen for some time, a lot of credit has to go to Ten Hag for that. Of course there's still work to be done, especially up top but the foundations are being set nicely. We've played the top 6 teams in the first 12 games and we're 3 points off 3rd. Think anybody would have ripped their hands off if that was offered before the season started. Now we've just got to make sure it continues against the lower sides.

The glaring difference between us and rest of top 6 is horrible goal differential. Our three losses we were battered. A good striker is essential in January. Until then the current drop have to bury the chances they get. ETH had a good post match interview on the die;d. Seems to be getting g more comfortable in the role and saying what he thinks. GNev asked if with Dalot improving do,they really need another RB. He responded about all the improving phases of Dalits game but said we need two quality players in that position because we want to be playing in European games and need depth at all positions. Liked his attitude during interview Goal difference rarely makes any difference but I agree we need more up top because it's clear that Ronaldo just isn't the answer. Be careful there, to some what you're saying about the GOAT is scandalous, its the managers/team fault he's not scoring

Exactly, we aren't going into games expecting a loss, such a different feeling
This season even when we don't play well like today, I didn't fell like we will lose

I think some impatience is natural and healthy. It has been a long time without trophies and the first team at least is looking better than it has done in a long time so standards and expectations are high. Erik is made of the right stuff and isn't going to hang around for 3 years talking BS about "progress". He is here to win stuff and play good football and dominate games and hopefully he is going to demand signings in January and the summer to get us to the level we need to be at.

‘To be honest, there is a completely different energy around the whole club, the training ground and that puts me in a better head space — I feel really motivated now. I struggled at times last season — more mental things, not my own performance. It was other things off the pitch. Too often last season I wasn’t in the right head space"
Interesting comments from Rashford.

"He was magnificent in protecting the box. He is a great player and a really good defender and we have seen how important he is for the squad."
Ten Hag on Maguire. Hopefully he doesn't believe what he is saying and is just trying to boost Maguire's confidence.

What a win. Sometimes you have to grind results out. The difference between that game and the end of last season is staggering. Might do us a favour Bruno being out for Villa Dalot is becoming a top player and Martinez is a rock Martinez for me has been the player of the season so far. Not bad for a midget did make me laugh when he bounced off Antonio, but in fairness the other CB's wouldnt have even attempted it

I thought him and Dalot were immense yesterday. DDG had a great game too. As for CE, his vision and passing is sublime. He should have been a united player years ago. I really am liking to team effort from our back line. The bond since Varane and co came in is a joy to see, slab head just winds me up to fuck. The sooner he is out of the club the better.

To go from what we’ve had to make do with, to both Eriksen and Casemiro in one window is an insane improvement. I just hope we don’t allow the transition from these two lads to their eventual replacements take so long. The state we allowed our CM to become in the 2010s was dire.

And so is not backing the manager when he is trying to impose those standards and we can see it working, it's been a team game thus far this season.
I will admit, I had my doubts on ETH in the beginning, and after the first two games, nothing changed with more of the same dross from last season, I was blaming it all on him.
And now I also have to admit, he has turned things around. He knows how to win games on the counter, grind out results, dominating. We have already seen a few different ways United won this season. Sure the loss with City was hard but you could see the confidence of the team was low, I am very confident the game at OT with City will be a totally different affair, we might lose but it wont be an easy tie for City.
We can see the changes, we can see a system and the best of all the confidence is coming back, we need to back the manager!
PS: It doesnt mean we back the owners, it is still Glazers Out all the way

We all know the standards this club should be at and they absolutely should be held to those standards. However you can't expect a new manager to turn it around overnight or keep picking faults from the off. He's going to make them, it's how he learns from them which is what he's doing. He's getting far more criticism by some than he getting praise and the constant negative outlook gets boring after a while, especially on social media. He's shown so far that he has the capability to make tough decisions when it counts and has a plan in place. Until he has other options he can only work with what he has available. Still a lot of work to do and the next 2 windows are vital for us and him. But the future is looking a lot brighter than expected at this point which is what we want to be seeing.

What I like about Ten Hag is the way that in his post-match comments there is always a focus on what we could be doing better. It gives a nice window into his thinking and what he is trying to achieve with the team and gives me confident that he won't get complacent or allow mediocrity to seep back into the squad.
“I think first-half possession we could have done better with more opportunities and initiative from the back. I think we have to manage it [the game] better, that’s clear. Especially the second half possession was poor, there were so many spaces left for us. Manage the game, keep the ball, let them run and then find the space and then go to goal"
And in relation to Casemiro: “I think in and out of possession he makes such a difference to the team, he gives the team the opportunity to dominate a game in and out possession. He can read the game and makes the right decision; he is pointing players in the right direction. He is anticipating and also he sees the pass between the lines. He is a top player and I am really happy to have him here.”
Interesting how many times he uses the word "possession". Our possession stats have improved especially since Casemiro broke into the team but needs to be higher especially against teams like West Ham. And pretty clear that we didn't manage the game second half the way he wanted us to and instead gave the ball away too much and let them have too much of the ball putting our defence under pressure.
