There’s definitely a can’t be arsed attitude in this team that needs eradicating but it all comes back to the board and owners time and again, they need to go first. 100% agreed. When the supporters protesting the ownership, I've never seen a team be successful on the pitch, it affects them more than people give it credit for.

Maybe but are you not fed up with excuses at this point? What happens outside the pitch should have no bearing on their desire to do their best.

If anything the protests take the heat off the players because we blame the Glazers for absolutely everything wrong with the club. And while we've recruited incredibly badly and that is on them for having the wrong people in place the players still have accountability as highly paid professionals.
For me what says it all is the way things turned out after we won the Carabao Cup. It was our first trophy in many years and should have been a platform to build on and given us a lot of confidence in the other competitions we were still a part of. Of course we were very lucky with the draw mostly playing Championship opposition with a lot of big clubs getting knocked out early in the competition but we showed up in the final and beat a good Newcastle team.
But our form slumped as soon as we won the trophy and we were easily knocked out of the Europa League and FA Cup and our start to this season is even worse than last season and we again look like we are heading to another poor finish.
Difficult to see us getting recruitment right especially as Erik seems to rely heavily on his own agency which limits us to mostly Dutch players. But at the very least we should be blooding youngsters with players like Mainoo, Pellistri, Amad, Hannibal, Garnacho all deserving chances. Even if they aren't yet as good as the players they'd be replacing at least they are young and hungry and yet to be infected by the collective rot. And if our senior players know they will be dropped if they don't perform it might give them a little more incentive to try harder and follow instructions.

Every manager under the sun at a top club complains about the compacted schedule. Injuries... while apart of the territory sucks no matter the situation and like someone else said, Pep/Citeh is one of the few teams that if guys go down they have another elite player to take his role. We have McFred, Barry, and Sancho.... The lack of effort is inexcusable. Standing around while the other team take free shots at your GK inside the 18 is inexcusable. While the supporters protesting the ownership shouldn't effect them, it does. Just like it shouldn't effect you, but it does. They are actually employed by the team, we voluntarily support them... still affects both.

Personally I feel players are overly extended but they don't want to sacrifice anything to reduce that burden, so the sympathy dries up pretty quickly.
