Also, Fernandes is not captain mettle. Not one single fiber of his being says captain. 100% this. I get that there are no other realistic options but your captain should inspire, whether by attitude and determination like Keane or Robson, or inspiration like Cantona. He is a fucking baby when things not going right, crying, moaning, throwing arms around, he might as well stamp his feet and stand by the corner flag with his arms folded. Onana has shown more captain material than this clown in his first 2 months. On ETH, I'm still backing him and maintain my position that sacking him is pointless. But, he really needs to sort this mess out, and asap. We all thought that United didn't play exactly like he wants to play because the personnel weren't there to do it, and once he gets those players in we'll see the real Ten Haag United. Well, he was determined to get Mount in, so much that he couldn't just wait 12 months and get him for nothing, so certainly felt like he saw Mount as essential to how he wants to play. And then plays him out of position, then bench's him. What the fuck? That 50M could have gone on a holding mid, or new top centre back seeing as Varane can never stay fit. But no, it was all about Mount. For some reason. De Gea could have just stayed if United were just going to still play the same style but again, no we have to get a keeper so good with his feet. Then not change the style anyway. Again, another 50M that could have gone elsewhere. Onana could have been prioritised for another window. He needs a big target man who clearly needs service, and then sticks with two wide players who never look to cross, always cut inside, and provide 0 assists, ever. So the target man is wasted. Again, what the fuck? Casemiro, Eriksen, Malacia all seemed like sensible signings last summer. This year seems like he threw darts at pictures of 50 different players and just said "Buy whoever they hit".

The guy was unbelievably spot on This stuff just endlessly pisses me off. Imagine what might have happened, had he stayed for a few years.

Club couldn’t wait to get rid of him once it was obvious CL football wasn’t happening. Hired for all the wrong reasons, thick cunts!

If a club won prizes for poor decisions and unprofessionalism, we’d be streets ahead of anyone.

Honestly becoming fairly apathetic towards United, which will only worsen if we sack Ten Hag and restart the whole (predictable) cycle. The club + structures surrounding + supporting his work is a shambles.
First derby in probably a decade that I just didn't care to watch, took our newborn for a walk in stead. No regrets.

First game in a month I tuned into, left at half time, full of regret. These sons of whores could write an anthology on how to decimate a successful, well run organization within a decade.

Agree that a new manager will not save our season or fundamentally change anything.
But at least we might play some better football, give more of a chance to other players in the squad, and enjoy the occasional memorable victory.
I can handle a bit of inconsistency if we are at least sometimes entertaining and sometimes spank teams. But under Erik this season we have just been consistently dull and underwhelming. We have no identity. Our goal difference is an embarrassment. In the Premier League we are not even managing a goal a game and our forwards only have a single goal between them. Every victory is a struggle usually requiring late goals to bail us out. Players look softer than they've ever been. And we've never looked more like a mid table team than we have this season.

The problem with a new manager is he isn't going to all of a sudden make Maguire lindelof Scott ect into good football players because they just are not good enough, he isn't going to all of a sudden get martial firing or bring Sancho back who then turns world-class, he's not going to make rashford consistent and all of a sudden make him use his brain, he isn't going to find casemiro and eriksen some new legs, absolute huge huge issues with these players.

I really don't think a change of manager changes anything. The rot was in During LvG when they couldn't be arsed reading tactic and watching videos at home they were sent. That's permeated throughout the squad for a decade now.
Also, who do we get in Potter? God forbid Southgate? Is that what people really want?

I was just about to say, we'd probably see a little lift as these weak as fuck players prance around without proper instructions, "express themselves + enjoy their football again" and then we'll be right back where we are now in 18 months.
Akin to Ole taking over as care-taker, doing well + hired permanently and then it all unravels again.
A part of me feels the only way to move through this is to buck the trend completely: Back the manager over and over, sell everyone who does not toe the line + (most importantly) hire a bloody DOF.

It bears repeating, I actually think all the squad bar some exceptions are either too thick, too shit or too scared to play how the manager wants. No one wants to make a mistake less there's a collective OT groan. But honestly, I'd rather someone tried things to win a game than this soulless side to side shite, which cannot be what Ten Hag wants or coaches in the week.

I'd back the manager if he showed some signs of being ruthless or some tactical flexibility.
If it is not working on the pitch either his tactical instructions/game plans are shit/unclear or the players aren't following them.
If the former then he needs something more concrete than a "philosophy" and needs effective tactics that the players understand and are clear on their roles and can execute the tactics/gameplan.
If the latter then he needs to go full Jose and drop players or sub them regardless of status if they fail to follow instructions.

In my opinion you need to be of a certain mindset to play for big clubs like this. Players like Rashford and Bruno ain't those players in my opinion and players like McTominay, Dalot and Anthony just ain't at the level required to compete for trophies. We have the worst of both in my opinion.

I'm also weary of passing judgment so early in the season, but I'd say Ten Hag would win a lot of people over if he simply went full-throttle with respect to youth players.
Many of us would buy into that, I'm sure.

I think he is now only one or two defeats away from getting the push.
Leaks/Briefs all over the shop.
The Glazers & Arnold need another scape goat to deflect further attention from the real issues at the club.
Getting rid of him so SJR can have his own man seems logic.
An air of inevitability about I think
