A saving grace for Erik might be that the talks with SJR are likely to drag on and Glazers will be more focused on that. Same as the Greenwood situation where we stalled on making a decision until we secured our long term sponsorship deal. Glazers will want to pass the buck to SJR when he is on board and get him to decide whether to keep Erik or sack him.
Of course all bets are off if we go on a really bad losing streak. But luck is still on Erik's side and our win rate is still hovering around 50%.

We can't afford to sack him and his team, and if he stays or goes it won't make a blind bit of difference this season anyway

“While this has not been the start to the season that we had all hoped for, I am certain that we have the talent and attitude as a collective to move in the right direction. I believe that it is only a matter of time before we are showing our true selves. It will come, I am certain. I continue to believe in these players and am confident we will improve after a difficult start to the season.
"On Sunday, in the first half particularly, we showed good defensive discipline and we created opportunities to counter-attack, but we were unable to capitalise on those chances at decisive times in the game. Important moments went against us and we were once again reminded that any mistake is punished at the highest level. Before the derby, we won three games in a row and demonstrated our character on each occasion, so we have developed in recent weeks."
Loser talk from Erik. Players are already showing their true selves-soft and spineless and ill-disciplined. Believing in these players and picking the same players every week will get him sacked.
Most of the chances we "created" against Manchester City were because they made mistakes. And we didn't capitalise on them. And to play at home and say well we had a few counter attacks is pathetic and shows we haven't progressed much from the Ole days when that was our entire game plan. And under Ole we were a lot better on the counter attack. So we've regressed if anything.
He's been talking about "moments" a lot this season. But we've played "hours" of football and looked crap for most of them. So trying to say we are unlucky because we had a few bad referee decisions is a cop out. And most of the moments had more to do with players switching off or losing their discipline because they are too emotional and unprofessional and the captain is the worst of the lot in that respect.
The three games we won in a row were against Brentford, Sheffield United and Copenhagen. Brentford we were a goal down after 90 minutes and were lucky to turn it around and win. Sheffield United are bottom of the table and we still struggled to win. Copenhagen are hardly top tier opposition and it still required a penalty save to get the three points. So trying to pretend we are a team on the up is deluded thinking at best.
And Erik didn't even have the balls to take questions from sports journalists and instead submitted prepared comments.

whilst the chase for FDJ was absolutely painful and embarrassing, I fully understand why ETH wanted him and the great importance he placed on the move. Beyond having someone comfortable bringing the ball out, we needed a midfielder that could actually control a game and dictate the pace the way the great Scholes did and Carrick sometimes too.
Bruno plays further up, doesn't control a game even on his best day. None of our midfielders can do it, I can't for the life of me think Mount was bought to do that because that's not his game. Eriksen at this stage in his career really can't, watching Mainoo though I can see why ETH is high on him, infact I kinda see why they are high on Gore too. I just hope more especially with Mainoo unnecessary pressure is out on him due to the failings of his more senior colleagues

The balance of the 2 would be a formidable combination. This also take the responsibility of dictating the pace of the game off Bruno and allow him to do what he does best and create opportunities. Mount's best work with this club has been when he's played on the right. I think we all see that Antony isn't cutting it there and Bruno is best utilized in the middle in front of the mid 2, now the question is who plays the mid 2? Arambat/Casemiro, Mainoo/Casemiro?

He was an attacking player throughout his career. The Mount signing continues to be an absolute joke.

IF* it's true, they haven't worn the socks after the 2nd game of the season, Onana has been much better the last few games with the same shirt. If it was a big deal, Adidas, the multi-billion company would've fixed pretty sharp Gutter journalism, anything to beat us with, and daft cunts click on it
