Agree with this. After all wasn't that sort of the point of bringing in someone like Ten Hag coming from a club like Ajax with a philosophy of developing young players? But we've seen precious little evidence of this under Erik. He just seems to want to spend a lot of money just like his predecessors.
He quickly gave up on Pellistri even though Antony has sucked all season. Hannibal was a bright spark earlier in the season but he's been overlooked lately. Alvaro Fernandez was carted off on loan and we preferred to bring in Reguilon. Garnacho was a breath of fresh air last season but even though Rashford is playing like crap Garnacho isn't being given enough minutes to kick on and progress. Remains to be seen what use we will make of Mainoo and Amad. Aside from Hojlund his summer signings were around their mid 20s. And instead of spending £100m on Mount and Onana we should have really got a young CB and a young CDM to play alongside Casemiro or Eriksen to help spare their legs.
But if we persist with Maguire, Scotty, Bruno, Rashford.....well those are the same players that got his two predecessors sacked. Defence is a bit of a lost cause. But I'd like to see a midfield of Mainoo Hannibal and Mount and a forward line of Garnacho Hojlund and Amad. I'm also weary of passing judgment so early in the season, but I'd say Ten Hag would win a lot of people over if he simply went full-throttle with respect to youth players. Many of us would buy into that, I'm sure.

Also just seen that he said something along the lines of not ever implementing Ajax football at United?
Sorry mate, what the fuck did we hire you for then? If not to implement the style of football you were well known for and which won you accolades? I'm at a loss for words honestly.

I think the squad is loaded with enough young, if but a little raw, talent to see us play really good football at the very least.
At some point, given enough backing from the club, I fancy Ten Hag might just go that route.

It's weird because he could very easily play the young lads in the positions where we've got Rashford and Antony. Fans won't complain if underperformers are dropped. What's stopping him?

Yeah. I'd rather we finish midtable with a young and exciting team that will get better and better and looks capable of playing the kind of football Erik wants than scrape Europa League football with the current squad that plays like crap but can occasionally pull a win out of the hat and has players like Bruno, Rashford, Casemiro who can occasionally turn in match winning performances that paper over cracks.
What Erik probably doesn't realize is the current lot will eventually down tools completely and get him sacked. So now is the time to change course and put faith in youth who are at least a lot more coachable than the current lot and will follow instructions and put in a proper shift.

Honestly becoming fairly apathetic towards United, which will only worsen if we sack Ten Hag and restart the whole (predictable) cycle. The club + structures surrounding + supporting his work is a shambles. First derby in probably a decade that I just didn't care to watch, took our newborn for a walk in stead. No regrets. congrats

Yeah with Rashford I think Erik must just be hoping he eventually goes on a goalscoring spree which will paper over a lot of the cracks the same way it did last season. He rarely keeps Rashford on the pitch for 90 minutes so he must be starting to get frustrated.

Bruno rashford and Antony need dropping replace with mount garnacho and pellestri, but that's all that can be done the rest of the squad that is left over is absolute pony.

It goes far deeper than Rashford, whichever combination of our 3 three players that you pick, they have got a combined return in the league of one goal. it's not just finishing chances that are the issue,it's creating them which is not something new. We can blame the Glazers for 99.9% of the issues at the club but what goes on on the training pitch is the mangers problem.

We’re clearly doing fuck all this season, so why not give Hannibal, Mainoo and Garnacho more minutes. For all the failures by Ten Hag this season including piss poor recruitment, the silver lining is that we have some young players who are pushing the door and could be clear upgrades over underperforming senior players.

Wenger is bang on with his summing up here..... Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has claimed Manchester United have ‘no hope left’ after losing 3-0 to Manchester City at Old Trafford.
Erling Haaland netted a brace before setting up Phil Foden for the Cityzen’s third, in a game where the gulf in quality between the two teams was clear to see.
Gary Neville said after the game at Man City ‘obliterated’ Erik ten Hag’s team, and that the second-half performance was a ‘shambles.’
Wenger has now given his thoughts on Man Utd, and said that he feels sorry for them because there is ‘no hope in the team.’
“I would say the gulf between the two teams became bigger and bigger as the game went on,” Wenger told beIN Sports.
“In the end, for such a big club you felt sorry for Man United because there’s no hope there in the team.
“I don’t see where they can improve, basically. This team has lost confidence, quality and even spirit today. I would say it was not a great fighting spirit from Man United, on top of that.
Wenger also said that Ten Hag got his tactics wrong in the game, by insisting that his team play out from the back rather than being more direct.
“I believe where Man United suffers a lot, first of all is about the quality, the individual quality of the players,’ the former Gunner continued.
“And I felt today they were very poor to build the game up from the back. They gave the ball so many times to the goalkeeper when they had possibilities to play forward. I would stay it started there.
“Then you make the whole team uncertain and lack confidence because when you feel the fear is behind, they do not want the ball.
“I would say the second part of their big problem today was the distances between the striker and the defenders was huge.
“There were situations where the strikers were closing down, trying to pressure, and the defenders were 20 metres behind the halfway line.
“You cannot win the ball back against a team like Man City when the distances are too big.
“The team was not compact enough, after that the difference of individual quality.
“If you tell me tonight how many players who get in the first XI of Man City? For me that sums it up. Usually, in a big game or a big derby you’d say I would take three or four from here and there. That sums up the problem of Man United, basically.”
