It really isn't a level playing field. Pep has always had a far superior squad to every other manager and the luxury of being able to tinker with his squad to his heart's content so he can play exactly the way he wants. So no surprise he wins the league almost every year. A better indication that he is good but not as good as everyone says is that in the 8 years he's been at City he's only won 2 FA Cups (well 3 after tomorrow!) and 1 Champions League trophy.

Sky are saying that no decision has been made and won’t be until after the final Sky don’t know shit. The days of them being the oracle are long past. Ok but we’ll easily believe an article in the paper because they’re so much more reliable 🤷🏻♂️

Good for Erik. I can only imagine the pressure he has been under in recent months as speculation continued to grow that he'd be sacked and INEOS refused to give him any public backing or make any effort to cool the rumours.
Erik has also confirmed that the season review has already happened so INEOS are lying in their backtracking attempt to claim no decisions have been made and the season review is next week.
He is also bullishly pointing out that the club was a mess when he took over and he reached 3 cup finals in 2 years and continuing to make his point that the injury situation has been ridiculous.
No doubt he will be forced to sign a NDA when he gets his compensation payment next week. But hopefully before they make it official he can throw some more shade on INEOS as they do not come out of this very well and if I was the next manager I would worry how much backing I would actually get from INEOS when things start to go wrong.
SJR comes across as a control freak and Brailsford seems like a bit of a fraud and Ashworth's judgement is questionable with his love of Southgate and Wilcox has been given far too much power when he should still be on probation and it is clear that the idea is to let the new structure run the show and subordinate the manager's role to just coaching the team and old school managers are unlikely to go along with that so someone like McKenna probably seems ideal to them. But I am sure that they may talk about long-term but they want a return from their investment and if we struggle for a few years while McKenna grows into the job or the players play up because they don't respect him then McKenna will get the boot while Ashworth, Wilcox, Brailsford and the rest keep their jobs.

Why not bring McKenna back to work with EtH?

Why not bring McKenna back to work with EtH? I'm guessing INEOS feel they have enough senior people in place on the football side for their to be a head coach supported by Wilcox, Berrada, Ashworth (eventually)?

Why not bring McKenna back to work with EtH? McKenna has Chelsea(probably) and Brighton(certainly) waiting to give him the manager role. He’s just led a team into the prem but he’s going to what, leave all those to become an assistant manager? Really?

Same reason I can see INEOS being wary about hiring someone like Pochettino or Tuchel. They aren't going to want to step down and be a head coach and deal with constant interference from the INEOS team over recruitment, tactics, training and team selection. McKenna on the other hand will be more than happy to take a head coach role and work under a structure and let Ashworth/Wilcox run recruitment and that presumably is the appeal and why I think he's quite likely to get the role even though he's clearly not qualified for it yet. But it would be a massive mistake. Players will queue up to work under someone like Tuchel or Pochettino. Can you them imagine doing so for McKenna? Players know their careers are short so won't have much appetite to join a club to participate in what is clearly going to be a multi-year transition period while McKenna grows into the role and learns the ropes. And maybe in the lower leagues players are like obedient schoolkids happy to do what they are told no questions asked. But things are different in the Premier League. Look at the way the Chelsea players mercilessly bullied Potter but then eventually knuckled down under Pochettino. Or the way that our players basically just ignored Rangnick's instructions because they knew he was a caretaker coach and most of them had never heard of him. Of course the eventual plan is to get rid of most of the current squad but that can't be done overnight. Why not bring McKenna back to work with EtH?

Good win today and he deserves this trophy but can’t judge him one just this one game.
We have to be ruthless and move forward

Would back Ten Hag, give him until Jan with a proper summer + recruitment.
