Good win today and he deserves this trophy but can’t judge him one just this one game. We have to be ruthless and move forward 3 finals in 2 seasons and winning 2, let's be real shall we
He deserves another season

I don’t think they can sack him now. It seems inconceivable. They’d turn everyone against them.

I think you need to give him the benefit of the doubt now.
He's been telling us all season that defensive injuries have been affecting the team. We pretty much had our first choice defence available this afternoon and it made such a difference to the team performance. And it isn't Erik's fault that Casemiro has been so useless this season and Rashford so often can't be bothered impressive performance today notwithstanding. Hojlund and Martinez have been good signings. He's brought through Mainoo and Garnacho and both were wonderful today. So let's bring in a few good young players this summer and sort out the injury issues (new medical team?) and see how he does in his 3rd season and then decide. Although I suspect that the decision to sack Erik (assuming it isn't reversed) is political.
It will only work with Erik if we bring in the profile of player he wants and that will mean Ashworth and Wilcox will have to subordinate themselves to Ten Hag and that isn't something they want to do. INEOS want a modern structure where the directors sign the players and the managers job is just to coach them and Erik isn't going to stand for that.
He's just beaten one of the best teams in the world in the most important UK domestic cup so I'd say he's vindicated himself and should be given a chance under the new structure

We're in Europa next season so that gives us a 2nd route to Champions League football and Erik has made top 4 in his first season so can do so again next season if he has better luck with injuries and we sign good replacements for Varane, Casemiro and Martial.
Do we really want to take five or six steps backwards and bring in someone like McKenna in the hope that over the next few seasons he will grow into the role and come good?
I like Pochettino as a coach I really do. But if it is trophies you want Erik's won far more than him.
There are clearly major issues this season. But why not at least try to work with Erik to fix them? The players are clearly capable of following a game plan so why are we only seeing evidence of that today? The injury crisis has derailed our season and surely that is on the medical team? And while recruitment has been hit and miss under Erik it will surely improve if Erik is allowed to work closely with Wilcox and Ashworth to identify the profile of player he needs to play the way he wants.

SJR will neither fire him or stick with him based on today.
I think that decision was made a month or so ago.

Those are the words that could well come back to haunt INEOS a few years down the line when Kieran McKenna still hasn't won anything. At least when Ed sacked LVG after the FA Cup final win he knew he was bringing in Jose who'd guarantee more trophies (at least during the honeymoon period). But with INEOS the decision to sack Erik which I think has already been made reflects a desire to bring in their own men that they can control and it smacks of politics when they promised the fans they'd put football first. Well in football what is more important than trophies and Erik has already won us two in two seasons. And with FFP INEOS won't be able to take the Glazer route of trying to placate the fans with a big summer transfer spend. As for Erik if they sack him he will be just fine. He can bide his time and will be among the front runners for the next big club managerial job openings. Brilliant post match from ETH

We have had no fit defence all season, every man and his dog has played in that position this year, we had casemiros legs fall off, and we had 30 goal rashford from the year before unable to score in a brothel, no team would be able to cope, he's made some good signings he's made some absolute shite ones, this new structure will hopefully help in recruitment going forward, but two seasons 3 finals and two wins, the man clearly can win titles, if we got twatted today he would have been toast, but we have just beat the best team in Europe in a major final, he's bought himself another year for me.

Just look at Poch, he had a bigger team, same number of injuries but not as critical yet still just 3 points above! Some want Poch

ETH has played a blinder today, on and off the field. I’ve called for his head in the past here, but I think he deserves to start the season at OT at the least. If what we saw today was ten Hag ball, give him the chance to deliver that consistently, in a stable environment with a capable structure around him. It’s only fair.

But right now there is no obvious manager who would immediately improve this squad that’s available. I’d think giving ETH another year but less input over signings is best middle ground. Despite low table finish. At least we aren’t Bayern going after Kompany!! Or Barca with their mess.

I can think of quite a few other mitigating factors too:
-Erik wanted Harry Kane but had to settle for Hojlund. Hojlund made a promising start to his United career and 10 Premier League goals was a good return for his debut season and he also suffered injuries at the wrong times (pre-season and just after he'd settled and was experiencing a purple patch) but clearly things would have been different this season if we'd had the funds to sign a more seasoned striker capable of scoring 15-20 Premier League goals. No regrets because I think Hojlund has the raw materials to be very good for us but he was always one for the future.
-We also screwed Erik over by promising him that Greenwood would return to the fold and maybe because of that he could get away with not signing a more seasoned striker.
-Eriksen's legs were also gone and he was pretty useful for us last season. Mount was signed as his replacement and while I don't quite understand the logic behind that because he was injured most of the season we never got to see whether there was a method to Erik's madness.
-Our transfer team failed to offload Maguire and Scotty last summer. Both of them were fringe players last season because Erik had much better options and neither player has the technical ability to play the way Erik wants and while they worked hard for the team our season would have gone better if we'd sold them and signed more suitable replacements.
-The chaotic takeover process that was only concluded end of last year must have been unsettling both to Erik and the players and INEOS refused to give Erik any kind of public backing which undermined his authority and position.
I think when you add up all the mitigating factors and consider that we were only 3 wins away from finishing in the top 4 AND we won a FA Cup I think it is madness not to give Erik the benefit of the doubt and give him another season. And as I have said many times it smacks of politics and INEOS wanting to bring in their own men that they can control.

I dont understand our fan base with this rinse repeat cycle.
I believe there are no options here, just stick with ETH cause any option will mean we will be back here in 12 months calling for another head.
3 finals in his first 2 seasons is not something anyone has done in a while at United.
