"For anyone who was around in the 90s the idea Jason Wilcox would one day, without ever having been a manager, have total control of the style of football to be played in every Man Utd team from youth to first team seems quite surreal" This made me laugh from a random account on twitter. there isn't a manager with any amount of self respect or worth hiring that would let a suit with or without coaching experience dictate the "style of play" for the team he is coaching.

That's not the point. We're not gonna get Jose back and insist he plays like Pep. We don't ask him in the first place because it's not possible. We approach managers who's usual style fits however the fuck some cunt decides how we wanna play

I think it's clear that Wilcox, Berrada, Ashworth aren't going to ring up managers and tell them they have to play in a certain way. What they're going to do is instil a culture, a methodology and therefore a way of playing that (hopefully) is consistent with what they want United to be.
Certain managers will fit the bill, others won't. Whatever happens, it will be a million miles away from stuffing a squad full of past-it galacticos and totally random mediocrities, then appointing a flavour-of-the-month manager in the hope that all goes well.
I also wanted Qatar, but what INEOS are trying to do makes a lot of sense to me and I'm actually pretty excited, and a little bit hopeful, that with some sensible strategic thinking we have the best chance of turning a corner we've been crashing at for over a decade now.

It’s as simple as football people making football decisions, not fucking bean counters.

Southgate , Thomas frank , McKenna , DeZerbi .. few of the names linked with us . Sounds exactly like a flavour of the month manager list. Even now they seems to have no idea on what to do with Ten Hag. Hence the complete silence in regards to the next manager , and of course another one of these comprehensive week long 'season review'. I think Xabi Alonso's success have made them think all these crazy appointments will actually work.

Chelsea sacked Pochettino 2 days after the season finished and then little more than a week later give Maresca a 5 year deal. Maresca: a guy who's never managed a top-flight club, failed in his first managerial job at Parma, went back to Manchester City with his tail between his legs to become one of Pep's assistant manager then on the back of winning promotion in his first season at Leicester gets the Chelsea job.
We are sensibly taking our time and won't sack Erik until we've lined up his replacement and haven't ruled out keeping Erik if no standout candidate emerges. We are talking to other managers and casting a wide net and will talk to Erik when he comes back from holiday. And we will make our decision in the coming weeks. There is no guarantee that this process won't end up in a stupid appointment like Southgate. But at least there is a process.
And it is the same with summer recruitment. We will make our fair share of mistakes. But we won't be making panic buys or overspending early in the window in the hope we can recoup some funds in player sales and then when we can't having to resort to deadline day loans. We won't be going for marquee signings to try and placate the fans and the manager. We won't let the manager buy whoever he wants but at the same time won't force players on him he really doesn't want and for each position we want to strengthen we will draw up a shortlist of names and selling clubs won't be able to rip us off because if they ask for stupid money we will simply move on to an alternative target on the shortlist. And decisions will be reached by committee so there will be checks and balances. So the end result should be markedly better than the last decade of recruitment without requiring us to pull rabbits out of the hat and get every single transfer right.

Taking a list of names from twitter rumours and then blaming United for being flavour of the month takes some special energy.

What Chelsea are doing is crazy , just when Poch was beginning to get a grip of the mess they let him go for an unknown who will probably crash and burn, that's insane. That Saudi money has gone to Boehlys head.

Good for us. Liverpool have gone for a poor man's Ten Hag. If we can resist the temptation to make a similarly stupid appointment we will have better management than Liverpool and Chelsea for at least the next season and that will increase our chances of finishing in the top 4.

He wasn’t on any reputable list but Conte has agreed to manage Napoli.

Almost 10 days since the FA cup final , they are still doing one of those reviews i guess.
Are we sure its not glazers still running things. Doesnt feel much different , we still have the same indecisiveness , same lack of ambition.
Then there is the whole Ashworth fiasco with Newcastle where they are refusing to pay for a guy who is supposed to be vital for clubs plans.
