I'd just like some stability. I know we will never see the like of Fergie and Wenger again, but sacking managers every couple of seasons feels wrong for me. Bloody hell, we had two managers through 50 years in Sir Matt and Fergie. I know the football landscape has changed etc. Maybe it's an old fart thing! Sir Alex's first few years and the the success he achieved is clouding our vision even in 2024.We need to accept he was the exception rather than the norm and move on. Standards have fallen so low that if Moyes was appointed now he wont look so out of place with his excuses , mediocre football and our mid table position. Next season , third year of Ten Hag we should have been in a position to compete for PL and CL. Instead we are going to be in Europa league and light years away from a title challenge in the league. I know not many want Conte here but there are still good options out there Xabi ALonso , Naglesmann , Simone Inzaghi , Zidane (not likely to come ,but maybe Jim can spring a surprise on us like how we poached Omar Berrada from city group) Alonso literally said he isn’t moving this summer.

Yeah , i missed that. Also he rejected Liverpool so even more unlikely to come to us i guess. Most likely Real Madrid bound. He is taking a big risk. Win the German league again and its confirmed he is the real deal, fail and his stocks could tumble fast.

Well he obviously can't come out in the middle of what could be an exceptional season and say that he's leaving. The right people need to speak with him and ensure him a shot at success. Minds can be changed, if the conditions are right.

Bayern and Liverpool, both of whom he’s played for with distinction, wanted him. But he turned them down to stay. There are no conditions that are going to make him change his mind and come to Utd this summer. It’s absolute fantasyland territory.

As fans I don't see any harm in dreaming though, considering the nightmare we're going through. What I do know for sure is I'd like our team to at least make an approach, regardless of it working.

people would be going nuts if we started approaching players we've no chance of getting, it's no different to Woodward etc.
Alonso would never come here, no point wasting the time.

Talk of naglesmann back to Bayern, we should be all over that before it happens.

Talk of naglesmann back to Bayern, we should be all over that before it happens. Liverpool , Bayern and possibly Chelsea will be looking for a new manager. INEOS will have to act fast. (Unless they are planning to go with that ridiculous notion of Gareth Southgate as a United manager)

Probably more like Seth McFarlane dating the Mother of Dragons. It does happen a lot more often than you’d think.

It is a good analogy. We are like a freshman wanting to find a date to prom. We are never going to be anyone's first choice. But if we ask first then there is a chance we could get lucky especially as there is a lot of uncertainty over who Liverpool will ask now that Alonso has ruled himself out with Amorim and De Zerbi also linked to them and Nagelsmann wants his future sorted before the Euros and may not be willing to wait for Liverpool to decide. Also he's spent a lot of time in the Bundesliga so may not want to go back to Bayern even if they do want him back.
Perhaps it would be a little unfair to Erik as he still has a chance of finishing top 4 and an even slimmer chance of winning the FA Cup. But we've missed good managers in the past because we were too slow to pull the trigger. And I think there is enough evidence already this season that Erik cannot get a tune out of our players and the results have flattered him as our performances this season have been midtable at best.
And Nagelsmann did pretty amazing things with Hoffenheim and Leipzig and did OK at Bayern and at least got some experience there of what it is is like to manage a big club. So I think he is a pretty solid choice.

Also he's spent a lot of time in the Bundesliga so may not want to go back to Bayern even if they do want him back. Nagelsmann is German , so its very much likely Bayern is his dream club.

If he can be top 3 next season after his team getting gutted by bigger clubs then I think it will stay relatively high. Players like Frimpong, Grimaldo, Boniface and Wirtz are going to be hard to keep after the season they are having
