Sir Jim's not very impressed...we've all known this for years but it's nice to see the poor standards being called out www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/may/03/jim-ratcliffe-disgrace-manchester-united-facilitiesSir Jim Ratcliffe has ordered Manchester United’s staff to raise standards after describing the level of untidiness in offices as a “disgrace” and some dressing rooms as “not much better”. Ratcliffe, the minority owner who controls United’s football policy, made his comments after a two-day tour of Old Trafford and the Carrington training ground. He wrote: “I had a good tour around the some of the facilities. I am afraid I was struck in many places by a high degree of untidiness. In particular the IT department which frankly was a disgrace and the dressing rooms of the U18 and U21 were not much better.” His remarks in an email to staff were sent on Friday afternoon. Ratcliffe then compares these standards with that of Ineos, the multibillion-pound company he owns. “These standards would not come close to what we would expect at INEOS and we are a chemical company. Manchester United is an elite sporting organisation. It’s a small thing in many ways but unless an organisation has standards and discipline it will not succeed. “I would be grateful in future if we adopt the proper standards of housekeeping everywhere. It reflects poorly on the club if we have visitors, young player parents, new players and and the media and they see we don’t care enough to keep things shipshape.”

All these small details that Ineos are ironing out will join together and make a huge difference in the end. Top team - check. Stadium - on with it. carrington - on with it. general running of the club - on with it. ETH - your next.

Erik is underperforming and isn't the right man for the job. I think most of us agree on that. But what is the point of paying him £10m in compensation when no suitable replacement has been lined up? Players haven't downed tools for Erik. I can't imagine he will be given much say in recruitment this summer. And INEOS aren't going to rush into a decision over a new manager and will want a thorough selection process involving multiple rounds of interviews with all the relevant people and most of them haven't even finished their gardening leave! And that selection process needs to be informed by a long term footballing philosophy and that will take time to formulate. So unless there is a standout candidate I can understand the logic of letting Erik see out his contract. There’ll be some CL qualification terms in his contract. Maybe they think a cup final win will gloss over the shite ?

SJR has been kicking off about the state of the IT rooms. if he’s that switched on about the details of the club then nothing will be glossed over. the glazers wouldn’t give a fuck it’s the IT room was based in a Chinese sweat shop full of kids and was a major fire hazard as long as it made them money. ETH is on very thin if not already broken ice.

Honestly don’t think they’re going to sack him, they’ll give him a season at least under their structure, plus his contract is up next year so they won’t have to pay him off and if he wants a new one then he’s got to turn things round pronto

I am hopeful that the takeover of SJR will come good. How he is taking positive steps is really encouraging.

At the end of the day if you're a footballer, you look at the impetus this club provides and the facilities it has to make you the best version of yourself, it becomes impossible to say no. In fact I'd tend to judge footballers who refuse a transfer to Real. Where the fuck else do you want to play?

More chat today about Ineos wanting Southgate. We will probably end up paying the FA 50 million for the privilege on top. I would sooner have potter, ole or even Steve Bruce.

More chat today about Ineos wanting Southgate. At least they'd unite the fanbase with that decision, as I think every single United fan is 100% dead set against it. What a joke it would be.
