Seeing Galatasaray trying to get Cas on a one year loan. Then get Rabiot in on a free

That would be the logical stop-gap if Casemiro leaves, Rabiot on a free that is.

Ten hag won’t allow Casemiro to be sent on leave. I’ll be shocked if Casemiro ends up leaving on loan.
Rabiot on a free should have happened regardless of Casemiro going on loan.
The manager will take himself and the club down with him thanks to his stance on Casemiro.

We bought one specialist DM which is great, but Cas and Eriksen are MLS standard one year on from when we knew they were past it and we have let McTominay go. We also have Mount who doesn't seem to be able to stay fit and a possible gruelling schedule if we are to compete in all competitions. They are going to run Mainoo into the ground between us and England bollocks. I understand the money was tight and they want to buy players under 25/24 but the guy is sitting there on a free. We can't be that broke or that stupid/arrogant to think we can compete with a worse midfield! What if Ugarte or Mainoo get injured or exhausted! The window is open for free agents and that one should be done!

Gundogan welcomed back to City on a free hitting 34 in October.

Still think that Rabiot is a no brainer.
Mount offers very little and cannot stay fit. Casemiro is finished and the best thing to do is send him on loan so he can hopefully prove he can still cut it at a lower level. Collyer is still very raw. Mainoo is struggling a little as he is being asked to do far too much because of the inadequacies of players around him.
So why not make an exception and bring in someone like Rabiot who brings huge amounts of experience, can play as a number 6 and a number 8, and is much better suited to a deep lying playmaker role than Mount? I don't think his wages are as onerous as are being made out. And when you have players like Mount earning £250k a week and making zero contribution I'd be fine putting Rabiot on the same money on a 3 year deal. And he might even accept a shorter deal for bigger money.

And just because we were foolish enough to give a bunch of players excessive salaries in the past doesn't justify adding another excessive salary to the overheads, esp after posting a £100m+ loss for the previous year.

The excessive wage demands story I don't think has any real substance. Perhaps by Serie A standards but certainly not by Premier League standards.
Even the media sources running that story say he wants 10 million euros which is only around £165k. That is a reasonable wage for someone of his experience and quality that would play a lot of games for us over a very long season. He wants a signing on fee of 15m euros but that is quite normal and if that was the transfer fee it would be a snip.

I think you have to consider that he would want to be a regular starter as well. I think until and when Casemiro goes it doesnt seem likely.
I think Case will come good this season with Ugarte in the side, he came on yesterday and showed he has that killer eye for the pass. Next summer we can go for someone younger, Rabbiot is 29, dont think it fits in the mould of INEOS signings.

I read it comes in around 150 grand a week, which would be nowhere near our top earners.

Unless he accepts a 12 months plus option of a further year the deal makes no sense, he's getting close to 30, he's a good solid player but he isn't great and that shows with the lack of interest in him, if we got rid of cash then it would have made sense but he's still here, we have ugarte now and with all the talk and hype around collyer we would be better off trying to blood him in.

Tbh I’ve never really rated the guy and his mum is barking.

You’d have to think there’s something iffy there if nobody other than Marseille have been bothered enough to sign him.

Rabiot is a painfully average football player.
