I don't know whether he's "good enough," but if he wants to leave already then he should go. Goodbye. Yeah, that fucking interview he did pissed me right off, he can do one.

Zirkzee has started all of 5 games for us, in a period when the team as a whole has been utterly appalling. The stick he’s getting is genuinely mind boggling. No, you can definitely tell whether or not a player is good enough after 5 games. The thing is, he’s not even looked bad for my money. Missed a few chances but he’s not an out and out striker anyway. Think you can see there’s a decent player in there, classy touch and produced some good link-up play. I get that some might think he’s not the type of forward that we needed but that’s another fault of the manager and transfer team, not the player. Opinions declaring him as just not good enough are wide of the mark, nevermind incredibly premature.

Had me for a bit I’ll admit. As I do with most players,I will see where he is after 2 full seasons before deciding if he’s a dud or not. Antony has had more than enough time(dud) mount is nearly half way through his second but I can safely say he’s going to be another dud.

Opinions declaring him as just not good enough are wide of the mark, nevermind incredibly premature. There’s two ways of looking at it really. On the one hand, he’s been getting in the positions to have these chances almost every time he starts. So you could say, a bit of work on his finishing and we could start to see some impressive returns. On the other hand, the chances he’s missed have been absolute tap-ins on the whole. Like literally couple of yards out jobbies. So you could say that legit any striker you buy should be able to finish those off. It’s right though that we can’t judge him yet. I’ve said he looks a bit of a lummox, which I think he does. However his link up play is pretty good when he drops in with his back to goal. I’d like to see him somehow alongside Hojlund. Not sure if he’s got a pass in him though to thread a quicker partner in. Can’t really judge a player this early anyway. Mount was different as most of us had probably seen him play a hundred games for club/country and thought he was shit based on that.

I don't think he's a bad player. Just perhaps not the right fit as he is so different from Hojlund and in our system we are looking to play with a number 9.
It is possible that we might be able to use him as more of a number 10, playing without a number 9, and letting player like Rashford and Garnacho cut inside more. We saw a bit of that with Weghorst once it became clear he was incapable of scoring and Erik started using him in a deeper role. He might also be good as an impact sub.
But I think that this season Rashford is a better option as a number 9 when Hojlund is injured.

I think Zirkzee has looked decent, the positions he's getting into, performances for the national team and first touches have all shown (at least to me) that we're not dealing with a Weghorst situation.
This team needs goals, and if/when we're able to bring in another proper CF - with solid competition and less focus on who is solely responsible for scoring, there should be a place for him in the squad.
Brings something different, and I think you need at least 3 CFs to really compete across all competitions.
Didn't cost a huge amount either, I'd rather we focus on shifting players who are clearly not good enough, or earning daft wages without actually making any impact (e.g. Antony). Zirkzee deserves some time.

Antony looked good at first but was soon found out(I just hope zirkzee is the exact opposite).

For me we needed an actual goal scorer to come in this summer zirkzee clearly isn't that kind of player, let's see how he's doing by Xmas, some players just ain't suited for the league and if it's not working out and we can recoup our money it's not the end of the world, this type of deal will be the test to see if as a club we have actually changed,in years gone by we would keep hold of players who wasn't good enough and even offer them new deals, if it works out and he kicks on then brilliant if it doesn't then shift him on.

Seeing a lot about Davies on free from Bayern in 25 Summer, is this worth a punt with his injuries and wages?
