At this point what the fuck are ineos doing, everyone can see it's over with, there isn't going to be some fergie type turn around here, just get it over and done with honestly the results couldn't be any worse with ruud in charge. Should have been done on Monday. Should have been done today. Could at least get a new manager bounce before Villa then sort the mess in international break. It’ll be another 3 points dropped or a life line that could hinder further development. I backed him this year but it’s been a disaster

Genuinely think he'll be here for a good while longer, even if results still keep going the way they are.

I really wanted us to buy Ugarte and watched as many extensive highlights of his appearances with Uruguay during the Copa. By any measure he was one of, if not the best defensive mid at the tournament. He’s been with us for about 10 minutes and already it looks like we’ve scrambled his brain with some bizarre tactical demands and he looks incapable of the most basic of roles.
One of the other teams I support has a coach who is getting a huge amount out of not great talent, which has to be the sign of someone really earning his corn. Ten Hag looks to be the exact opposite and I’d worry the impact this might have on the likes of Garnacho and Mainoo.

John Cross on SSN (journo) prattling on about United giving managers time, why is this absolute bullshit continuing to be peddled ? Presumably Fergie’s speech with Moyes. Only reason this has become a thing is because the ownership is tight and don’t pull the trigger when they should, not some romantic bullshit.
They’re hiding behind an Fa cup, incompetent twats.

Fuck sake, he’s had two seasons and 10 games. Wes till have zero identity and not a single poster on here can say categorically what type of football we want to play. We’re a shambles defensively and teams are starting to cut us to pieces with ease. How much longer do these guys want us to give Ten Hag?

What happens if Villa get a guy sent off for a professional foul in the 15th minute and we beat 10 men? Does that mean that everything is suddenly rosey? Or if Onana has the game of his life and we get a breakaway goal after being battered?
Smacks of fudging the issue. Be brave FFS.

Yeah it's pointless we could win he's saved for a little while longer and then go and lose are next 3 and we sack him anyway, it's clear as day he's finished it's just a matter of time.

We are 21st place in a 36 team league of 2nd tier teams who weren't good enough to qualify for the Champions League. And we are 13th place in the Premier League. We've played 10 competitive games this season (if you include the Community Shield) and only managed to win 3 of them (and one of those wins was against lower league opposition). That is a win rate of 30%. Even Moyes had a win rate above 50%.
Win, draw, or lose against Aston Villa and it doesn't change the bigger picture.
INEOS have done everything they can to support Erik. They've strengthened the coaching team, the backroom team and the playing squad. They've put in place a modern structure above Erik with football people so that Erik can focus on coaching. But there are clear signs of regression.
Erik likes to talk about young players being in a transition period. But the majority of our first team is over 25. Our squad has its limitations for sure and we've had a few injuries but we should be doing a whole lot better than we are in terms of results and performances.
He likes to blame pre-season but if that excuse rang true we'd have started to see some improvements in the last few games as we are 10 games into the season and have had lots of training sessions. But we were outplayed by Tottenham, threw away a 2-0 goal lead at Porto and needed another injury time goal to save our blushes, and failed to beat a poor Palace team.
He likes to blame injuries but this season our injury problems are no worse than any other club and our squad is close to full strength and has a lot more depth than previous seasons.
He is simply out of his depth.

Dalot has gotten worst with each passing game this season. I won’t blame him too much, he simply is not an effective LB at the level required. Surely we are better playing an actual LB in Amass. This thing with Dalot is Darmian all over again, it’s simply poor management. The knock on effect of Dalot being a natural LB and moving into the midfield is Licha being massively exposed More bad planning expecting Luke Jones to be fit. It was a problem last year and they did nothing this year! They also did fuck all in midfield effectively as last night we played with the same old midfield that last year everyone though would be sold and it's kind of a problem for Dalot as now he is supposed to be a LB and some sort of 6 to boot. That's why you are seeing him make so many mistakes or not there covering. If he wants to use a wing back inverted like that, then maybe we have players more suited to a 3-5-2. We have 5 fit center backs and Yoro back at the end of the year. It's not working at the moment, so try something else FFS. They got lucky with Mainoo, but they are expecting way too much from a teenager! The midfield has gotten worse since ETH first year, when it was actually very good. It was bad last year and they let go two players and brought in one very late! If teams run through you all the time and you can't control the ball under pressure then any teams in the PL or Europe are constantly going to bombard you. They were all over us last night and probably just as chaotic a team as us. The defense is going to make mistakes under that kind of pressure, but they were particularly bad last night! He hasn't been supported by a professional structure with contacts or the ability to negotiate or sell in recruitment to be able to compete at this level. That's been the same for every single coach we have appointed and then reset! and none of them have done well in that area, because it's not supposed to be their job anymore in the modern game. It's too competitive and too cut throat and not sustainable for long term success. We didn't have any pull or edge in recruitment, so they let him bring in players he knows by overpaying because there wasn't any other alternatives and we aren't competing with the top teams for those players, we are taking their rejects or overpaying for players not tested at this level or paying stupid contracts to players with one good year left. Everyone is exhausted and bored of this shit, but we can't judge the new set up yet, that effectively just started in July.

I agree that managers aren't miracle workers. But even making allowances for the playing squad you'd expect a lot better performances and results. Look at the teams lying above us in the Premier League and Europa League table.
Another point the article made which might explain Arteta's success is that he knew from the start how he wanted to play. So that when better players arrived there was a clear benefit. A similar thing happened under Liverpool with Klopp.
If there is any lesson from the article it is that it is better to have a less tactically sophisticated manager who knows exactly how he wants to play and sticks to his guns than having a very tactically sophisticated manager who feeling he doesn't have the players he needs to play the way he wants tries to compromise and ends up sending mixed messages and confusing everyone.
I though the whole point of Jason Wilcox is that he was supposed to be deciding on a style of play which was to be implemented through the ranks from youth team to the senior team and managers would be hired in part on the basis of their affinity with that style of play and ability to implement it.
Even Ole outperformed Erik with a weaker squad (at least in the league) because while tactically naive he knew exactly how he wanted to play and had a clear vision.
