I like the speed with which this has progressed. Refreshing isn’t it. personally I think this plan was being hatched after the spurs game(maybe as far back Liverpool).

I like the speed with which this has progressed. Chem Jim and company don't mess about and that really makes me happy after years of drawn out negotiations.

Any way back for Sancho under a new manager? Or is it goodbye and good riddance? Obligation to buy anyway wasn’t it?

Anyone got any proper insight on him from a footballing perspective? I know he prefers to play three at the back and has based their success around a solid defence. Beyond this I know nothing.
I’ve reached out to a Portuguese friend, but he’s a Porto fan so not expecting anything truly unbiased to come back.

In a previous age, Ed Woodward would be on a coracle to Portugal having told the world how much money he’s willing to spend. We’ve at least improved on some areas.

If this was our plan, why did we wait? This should have been done before the international break. All new staff yet same old clueless decision making.
This is the first time I am not hopeful with a new manager, not because the manager is bad or anything, just because we make every manager look crap.
Every manager comes in with a good reputation and ends up looking clueless and eventually sacked.
Nice thread title, it is exactly how it's going to be. Players perform in the beginning and then eventually go back to their old ways and get the manager sacked. Rinse and repeat.

I haven’t had time to read all the news let alone process it.

INEOS have acted a lot quicker than I expected. There are still 29 games left in the Premier League, 5 more games left in the Europa League and we are still in both clubs. This is far earlier than we sacked Jose and Ole. And after giving him the contract extension and all the ins and outs this summer they were always going to give Erik a bit of time to try to turn things around. And they were also smart enough to go for a manager who they could get to start immediately (via the release clause) rather than spend months interviewing all potential replacements including those only available in the summer.
Obviously there is a bit of a risk. But you are never going to find perfection and even if you could there is no way the perfect manager would want to join us!
While we've been burnt many times before I think there are some grounds for optimism:
1) This guy broke up the Benfica-Porto duopoly in Portuguese football and has an incredible win rate. That is a lot more impressive than winning titles with Ajax. He also did very well with Braga even winning them a domestic cup. 2) This is a role that he can grow into. The main problem with Erik was his inability to learn and adapt. This guy is young and ambitious. I can't see him hiding behind pathetic excuses the way Erik did. He will find a way to succeed. 3) He has charisma and presence and therefore is likely to do a better job at getting the players fired up than Erik did. 4) INEOS have picked him and are therefore likely to give him the backing and support he needs. 5) He has several months to find his feet and get to know the players and their capabilities and coach them. No one is expecting much from this season and that should help him settle. 6) In the coming seasons we are having a lot of exciting youngsters coming through the ranks and he'll hopefully also have some influence on transfers so he can start phasing out some of the dross in the current squad and if he does push for players from the Portuguese that will likely work out a lot better than Erik's Dutch signings. 7) There will be some kind of new manager bounce and players are going to start worrying about their futures as INEOS will side with the new manager over the players (for now). That is far more likely under Amorim than it would have been if Ruud had been appointed caretaker until end of the season.

343 excites me more then anything, I just want to see something different on that pitch, this formation will suit amad with his pace I think, but we will also need an out and out goal scorer, wouldn't surprise me if zirkzee is sold next summer and we being in gyokeres.

What are the odds that all our injury problems magically clear up under Amorim?
I am convinced our never-ending injury crises under Ten Hag were because he overtrained the players and his chaotic tactics left players having to cover too much ground so they got overstretched and more susceptible to injury.

Hard to see how the Licha and Varane injuries could be his fault. And Shaw has been getting injured regularly for like 5 years. Maybe Mount. Who knows.
